2 IN THE CHEST is a power trio made up of a bass player guitar player and drummer. Although the band is new to the scene they all have extensive experience in the music industry. The drummer Rachel Barela got her start at a very young age playing drums and has been is bands such as, whiskey rain, saguaro, skin witch, Merra's fate, breakfast of champions and Lori bravo raped. She has won heat strokes 3rd and 4th annual drum competitions. Rachel was also mentioned in modern drummer magazine and The Percussive Arts magazine. Rachel was born in Denver, Colorado later moving to Arizona with her parents in 1988. She came to be in 2 IN THE CHEST when she met Rich at a local metal show and they hit it off right away.

Casey started in music at 8 years old he got his start on the piano and found that he did not like it much. so at the age of 12 he gave the guitar a shot and played that for a while then found that he really liked the bottom end of the almighty bass. He made the switch to bass around the age of 14 and at the age of 16 is when he really got focused and really started getting serious. At this point he was going back and forth from guitar to bass and he did this for a few years, after which he decided that he was going to play bass and that's it. Casey has been in bands such as Doug lawelon, Mudrup and a few other he really does not want to mention. He came to be in the band when Rich answered an ad that Casey posed on Craigslist at this time Rich asked if he would like to come over and jam a bit, and see what happens. We'll all three members fit together like a glove right off the bat and that is how 2 IN THE CHEST was born.
RICH ORNELAS

Rich would be the father of the band as he is the oldest. Rich got started in music way back in 1977 when he was given a choice to go to culinary arts school to be a high paying chef or get the music gear of his choice well we all know what happened there.
Rich never took a lesson on his axes and he had a reason for that, he stated that he never wanted to sound like anybody else. He has been in very few bands as the ones he was in stayed together for quite some time. He got his start in a local Christian band called Heavens Metal he did that for a few months until he was invited to a concert way out in north phoenix the band that was playing was called Sacrificial Death he liked the band so much that he showed up at their practice the very next day. And as luck would have it they needed a bass player and that was the start of his real music career. That band changed its name about 5 years later to Scapegoat, and they went on to play some major festivals and really started to take off but things did not work out between the members and they went their separate ways. Several years went by and he would continue to write music until he met Rachel at a metal show they hit it off and 2 IN THE CHEST was born.
