Zodiac Band Bio

Zodiac is:

Mike Kemp / Programmer, Guitar, Sampling

James Patz / Vocals, Minor Programming, Sampling

Samantha Merlin / Preaching, Vocals, Enchanted Vocals

Obviously, ZODIAC is on the brink of giving a much needed breath of life to the industrial scene, their unique sound consists of elements ranging from EBM to Blackmetal, all the way through to power noise and industrial.

Since it's creation in early 2007, the band has released eight mastered tracks, along with several demo tracks to keep the fans hungry.

Their first song, RELEASE, which hit Myspace in april was immediatly met with open arms. Since then, a slew of tracks have come to being, much to the delight (and demand) of Zodiac's ever growing fanbase. Tirelessly, the band's founders, Mike Kemp and James Patz, worked day and night continuing to bring out track after track, while managing themselves as they did not wish to be under any label. In April, Samantha Merlin joined the group, bringing to it her majestic vocals. Most recently would be the additions of Derek Went, to assist in their live performances.

SAVIOURS OWN SUICIDE was released in July. Since then it has surpassed well over 2500 plays and led to the creation of the bands first video, which can be found on the bands Myspace (www.myspace.com/zodiak666) or on Youtube under the bands name (Zodiac - Saviours Own Suicide). Now, you may have noticed the different spelling of Zodiac for the bands Myspace, this stems from a copyright concern during the creation of the page, worry not. The site is spelt with a "k" and the band is spelt with a "c".

"We try to focus on what the songs are about, attempting to secure a theme signifigant to that song alone."

DIVIDED EXISTANCE is a perfect example of this, as it captures the raw emotion that this band holds. A series of views spreading from LOVE to HATE, or RELIGION to POLITICS, can be found encompassed in ZODIAC's work. But this is only the tip of the iceburg! The diversity of their views is most clearly expressed in the differentiating styles that they present, and yet, it always holds the unmistakable fingerprint of ZODIAC.

"We cover personal affairs that we are strong about. Rape my tears for example, it's about loss."

From Toronto, Ontario, Zodiac's influences spawn from numerous music types, including such bands as: Psyclon nine, Combichrist, Skinny Puppy, Aslan Faction, Suicide Commando, Project Pitchfork, Hocico, Cradle of Filth, Fear Factory, Emperor, and Siebenburgen. Although, these are merely musicians that they have an intrest in. Zodiac's primary fuel comes from within, the music lives and breathes in each one of the members, a coralation of their life experiances you might say. Once combined, they work to form the heart of Zodiac. LOUD and BEAUTIFUL!!!

"Our music consists of three main cornerstones; Synths, vocals, and effects. The beauty of it is, no one song is the same as any other. There is always some sort of original element to every song that we do. It helps us keep the fans guessing at what we will come out with next."

ZODIAC's members originally met during their teen years at a club that they all happened to frequent. Since then, James and Mike had worked together in two previous groups; Stasis and The Trinity Project. After many years, the long time friends joined together. Thus, Zodiac was born.

"People want hard industrial.Go out and find me harder industrial!"

Despite a number of unexpected set-backs, ZODIAC has spread through the internet like a virus. Earning it more than 10,000 page views since it's creation a mere five months ago. Added with that, new tracks, videos, and individual member profiles, ZODIAC is a band on the rise.

2008 will be the year of the ZODIAC.Get ready!
