ZERO GROUND

Doing it the hard way

In the late part of 2004, Yuba City California was already singing the lyrics to songs that were only months old. Zero Ground had managed to make music that peoplewanted to hear; wanted to memorize and make their own. Years later the crowd is bigger, the miles traveled get longer, and word is getting around about this band called ZERO GROUND. David Walsh plays Bass guitar and sings for the band. When asked how he justifies the long hours and rough travel, he responded quickly with "Being able to spend the time it takes to do this sort of thing is justification in itself." Dave’s bass style is quite unique having only ever been a lead guitarist/vocalist in the past. Adam "Ace" Cossman, Zero Ground's lead guitarist, has his work cut out for him because the rest of the band is essentially a giant rhythm section. He's not scared though. His unholy shred sessions are heard loud and clear. and loud. "I love filling a room with our sound" he says, "without chasing anyone out." Joey Boden plays rhythm guitar. He does it so well that it's difficult to discern whether the drums are following him or vice versa. Joey’s musical memory and technical ability are phenomenal. His style is always original with a high degree of creativity. Joey has special needs and isn't allowed to run with scissors. Eric Bowen is a highly gifted drummer who is guaranteed to wow you every time you see him work. He has the metabolism of a hummingbird on crack, and his hands and feet are greased lightning fast. There are a lot of fast drummers out there but few of them will ever have the articulate phrasing that Eric never ceases to deliver. Complex dynamics are what make him more than just a metronome. All four band members are from different parts of the country. Each of their personal influences vary because of this. They range from, Sevendust to Megadeth, Chimera, Metallica, In Flames, and Slipknot. Whether you're a metal fan or not- you'll get hooked on Zero Ground. The hook comes in the form of the melodic aspect of their work. With the dynamics of the drums and bass and the stand out rhythm guitar, the vocal melodies are vital to rounding out the bands flavor. Dave Walsh does this marvelously with backups from Ace Cossman. You'll want to have their CD at home. You'll want to see them live as much as you can, and when you do you'll be singing their songs. So will everyone around you.
