Son of a great admirer of Motown music and of a habitué of the " Samba " and the " Choro " circles of Rio de Janeiro, the singer, composer, and musical producer Zé Ricardos music caught the listener's attention in the beginning of the 90's. As he mixes rhythm with a groovy guitar in the best style, influenced by João Bosco, Gilberto Gil, and Djavan, with just the right hooks that stick to your mind, and with clarity in speech, sang in Portuguese, plus the refinement of a mixture of " Samba-Soul-Jazz ", Zé Ricardo creates his own style of music. A resonant soul that mixes american black pop music with the esthetics of Brazilian rhythms, harmonies and melodies. His debut CD " Zé Ricardo " (1998 by WEA) received great applauses by the major critics of Brazil who considered him an exponent of the new generation of the Brazilian pop music. In 2002, Zé Ricardo came out with his 2nd CD, " Tempero " which was also very well critiqued, and in 2005 came out in Brazil and in Portugal with his 3rd CD and 1st DVD " Zé Ricardo Live ". In this DVD Zé Ricardo sang along with many great legends of the Brazilian music community such as Djavan, Sandra de Sá, Ed Motta, Toni Garrido, as well as the American singer Victor Brooks.
This recording opened his work to the international market.
In 2006 Ze Ricardo sang his new concert to Rock in Rio Lisbon and the concert was a great success. In 2008 he received an invitation to be the artistic director of a new stage for the Rock in Rio lisbon festival. Sunset Rock in Rio is born. The Sunset stage was the biggest revelation of the last edition of Rock in Rio Lisbon, it was a great public and critic success. The concept of the stage created by Ze Ricardo will not only be part of the next festival in Lisbon in 2010, but it will also be part of the Madri's festival.
At the moment Ze Ricardo has just finished the project Mar Ipanema as the aristic director; a CD that gathers 20 great new artists from the Rio scene in duets. This CD, which he produces with DJ Plínio Profeta, will be released in many diferent countries in Europe this year.
In September the singer Ze Ricardo wil be totally dedicated to his new solo CD. The recordings will be done in Rio de Janeiro and Lisbon with its release expected in April of 2009.

O seu Cd solo de estréia "Zé Ricardo" (1998 pela WEA), recebeu importantes aplausos da crítica que o considerou um expoente da nova geração da MPB! Em 2002, lançou o segundo Cd, o também muito elogiado, "Tempero" e em 2005 lançou no Brasil e em Portugal o seu terceiro Cd, junto com o DVD "Zé Ricardo ao Vivo". Esse trabalho lhe abriu as portas do mercado internacional. Em 2006 leva seu novo show para o Rock in Rio Lisboa e tem grande êxito. Em 2008 recebe um convite da direção do Rock in Rio para criar um novo palco de música para o festival. Assim nasce o palco Sunset Rock In Rio. O Palco Sunset foi o maior destaque da última edição do Rock in Rio e obteve um grande sucesso de público e de crítica. O conceito do palco criado por Zé será utilizado em 2010 não só em Lisboa mas também na próxima edição do Rock in Rio Madri. Agora ele assina a direção artística do projeto Mar Ipanema, um Cd que reúne 20 dos maiores nomes da nova geração da musica carioca em duetos e que será lançado em vários países da Europa. Nesse projeto ele faz a produção musical em parceira com o DJ Plínio Profeta. Em Setembro Zé Ricardo se concentra totalmente nas gravações do seu novo Cd. As gravações acontecem entre Rio de Janeiro e Lisboa e o Cd tem lançamento previsto para Abril de 2009.
