Born in Ghana,named Alfred Jonas Dowuona-Hammond Jnr.The 7th born child of a Politician in Ghana's first Republic, Jonas (bibi) Hammond first had to convince his conservative family that making music was "the way he wanted to go"Started playing drums and singing in school bands by the age of 10. Electric bass guitar by the age of 18 . Has worked as a composer, arranger,Producer and musician all over the West African coast, England,Arabia and Germany.Lives in Berlin since 1986. Set up together with Andy Quist "Zaria Music Label" , a music publishing and production company for Contemporary RnB, Jazz, Soul, Pop , Film music and Afro crossover music.Current projects.A long awaited solo CD with Jonas Hammond as a multi-instrumentalist/Vocalist on self written compositions.Demo material from the coming CD can be heard on myspace. Has Produced among others the fabled "Godfather of Nubian music" Ali hassan kuban, the Sudanese "Henna Queen" Setona, Guy Warren (Divine Drummer) and his son Glenn Ghanababa Warren.remixed many successful artistes around the globe.Tours worldwide as a session bassplayer with Jazz, RnB,Gospel,Soul, Hip Hop, and World beat artistes.Currently writing and producing a series of soundtracks for film documentaries in Germany.
