Z A R E Z
Zarko Markovic aka zarEz – born in 1980 in Nish, second largest city in Serbia next to Belgrade. At the end of the communist era Serbia started opening to new trends and influences from Europe. zarEz got on the new wave train right away and became a part of the urban culture.
Discovering his music talents early in his childhood, at the age of ten he was already taking piano lessons and attended a music school. Even then he had rhythm and rhythm is what got him here. Unfortunately two wars that happened during the 90’s stopped his “pianist career”. During that time he found new love in electronic music. He bought his first record in 1996 and in 1998 he had his first DJ gig at a local club “Opera”. From then on he worked the local scene playing in all the best clubs of Nish and surroundings. Soon after came invites from all over Serbia. In the beginning in his sets you could hear the unavoidable disco house with soulful funky jazzy sounds. Over the years his style was changing and evolving into today’s “fat” bass lines of electro, minimal and tech house music.
Recognized by many promoters he took part in many festivals and big events. Among his many appearances the ones that left a mark were:
•2001, 2002 – official DJ of Lucky Strike Urban Times Tour
•2004 – DJ promoter for Volkswagen promo tour
•2002, 2005 – sets at NISOMNIA music festival
•2005 – Fashion Week After Parties
•2006 – VIP stage @ EXIT festival
•2007 – Urban Bug Stage @ EXIT Festival
•2007 – Camp Stage @ EXIT Festival
But, the place where he feels most at home is behind the decks of smaller clubs where he can feel and interact with the crowd. That the crowds like him prove his many invites to clubs around Serbia and Greece, Macedonia, Bulgaria and Hungary, in more that 200 gigs a year.
Often he found himself sharing the decks with the likes of Luke Fair, Desyn Masiello, Ravin /Budha Bar/, Marko Nastic, Miles Hollway & Elliot Eastwick, Add 2 Basket, Pierre Ravin, Joeski, Smokin Jo, Thanno, Seamus Haji / ATFC/, Robert Owens, Jose De Divina , Pat Cue, Wally Lopez, Ian Pooley, Robotek, Azzido Da Bass, Jon Silva, Ricardo Torres, Kevin Yost, Billy Nasty, etc.
At the start of 2003. he starts an organization with DJ Flo, called “Fun Run”, which is a part of multimedia group www.kondukter.com , today!
