Yvette Tollar

Hailing from Toronto, Canada, JUNO Award Nominated vocalist and composer, Yvette Tollar, has been singing since she was 16. Her highly expressive vocals are rich and soulful, her delivery of lyrics mature. A seasoned performer, Yvette captures audiences with her elegant, unaffected and sincere stage presence.



Jazz has always been Yvette's main focus but growing up in Toronto's multicultural and inclusive society she was exposed to a myriad of roots and folk music from around the world. By remaining open to the world of influences that surround her, Yvette sports immense versatility and a hunger for new musical connections. She has sung in at least 9 different languages (but who's counting?) an more than a dozen genres including traditional & modern jazz, R&B, folk and traditional world music from Hungary and Egypt.



With 2 critically acclaimed albums under her belt, a JUNO nod and a strong presence on CBC Radio and JAZZ FM, Yvette's fan base and notoriety continues to grow.



Her impressive 2010 concert season is currently underway and finds Yvette singing her heart out at prestigious venues such as The Primus Stage (The TD Toronto Jazz Festival), Yonge & Dundas Square (Serenades In The Square Series), The Markham Jazz Festival, The Boathouse in Kitchener, The Old Mill (Friday's To Sing About Series), and at The Rex Jazz & Blues Bar.

Her self-produced concert series "Women In Jazz" features collaborative concerts with some of her favourite musicians including legendary jazz vocalist, Sheila Jordan (September, 14th Hugh's Room) and internationally acclaimed vocalist extraordinaire, Mary Margaret O'Hara. (Lula Lounge August 25th).
