When it comes to YUCA's music, the band writes what comes naturally. And what comes naturally is best described as "infectious, uplifting, emotional & passionate music. With hints of U2, Radiohead, Muse and Elbow, YUCA are constantly being compared to the greats. "We don't try be anything we aren't, we write songs that move us emotionally, spiritually and physically. We try to be uplifting without being pretentious and catchy without being slick".
Their live shows, dubbed "a live experience", are celebrated, untamed a airs that see their soulful songs expanding endlessly and incredibly. With over 375 plus tour dates under their belt, YUCA has been hitting the pavement and touring for the past few years from their hometown in Langley BC across Canada, the US and into the UK garnering a reputation as an electrifying live attraction. This is a band with a hard working, do it yourself, attitude and they have set huge goals for themselves.
"We tour as much as we can selling our albums every avenue possible – town by town, country by country and we focus alot on our live show. We spend alot of time writing new music and we dedicate to spending equal amounts of time working on our live show."
With powerful songs and a live show to back it up, YUCA has been asked to share the stage with many great bands such as: The Killers, AFI, Metric, De La Soul, The Trews, Lifehouse, Hot Hot Heat, Billy Talent, Theory of a Deadman, Default, Kim Mitchell and Econoline Crush. The band has also performed multiple times on TV in Canada including CTV (Official Broadcaster of the Vancouver 2010 Winter Olympics).
After selling out their firrst demo (500 copies) from side of stage sales in just two months, YUCA was approached to record their debut album with Producer and Factory Studios owner John MacLean. Recorded at The Factory Studios in Vancouver Canada with MacLean as producer and mastered by George Marino (Coldplay, AC/DC, Nirvana) at Sterling Sound in New York, the 14 tracks of YUCA's debut, including the single "Its about something", movingly express life's inevitable transitions and the emotions that accompany them. This album has helped build a solid foundation of fans around the world from word of mouth and online buzz.
When you meet the band in person or during their performances on stage, you'll find that the four young men of YUCA have an engaging humility and with a genuine smile. They are more than brothers; they are adventurers willing to take their music to new frontiers.
