New album "Emotional Cocktail"
- OUT NOW !!!
"We
lied to get attention. We said that we had a beautiful girl as bass player,
but we took an ugly man as bass player to our concerts. Some of our songs already
played on the radio and we hadn't even rehearsed them. After 7 months we started
recording our first album. Thank God for all our past experiences. Then we didn't
know anyone, now we know many! Playing in the United States of America helped
us to take stock of our capabilities which we often underestimated. But it also
made us realize the long road still ahead. The new album was written with
lots of love. The songs are much better than those of the previous album and
we thought that they deserved a good production. We're no longer just a garage
band."
Biography
You Should Go Ahead originated in Lisbon in 2005 by: Pedro Lourenço
(vocals and guitars), David Ferreira (guitars and vocals), Inês Vicente (bass
and vocals) and Tiago Salsinha (drums).
After some live shows like the Festival
Sudoeste 2005 and an appearance at the TMN Garage Sessions contest,
in which they went to the final, the band recorded its first album, which was
named after the band and which was released in May of 2006, by the Chiado
Records label. The first single from that album was like when I was
seventeen, mastered by Howie Weinberg, renowned by his work with
bands such as Smashing Pumpkins, Franz Ferdinand, The Clash,
Metallica, Nirvana, Sonic Youth, etc. The clip for the
second single wake up song, directed by Miguel Rocha, received
the Best Fiction Video award at VIMUS 2007 - the International Festival
of Music Videos from Póvoa do Varzim.
After sharing the stage at the Lisboa
Soundz Festival with The Strokes, Dirty Pretty Things, She
Wants Revenge, etc. The band was chosen to participate in the biggest music
festival of the world, South By Southwest 2007,
in Austin, Texas, U.S.A. where they joined bands like The Stooges,
Lily Allen or Bloc Party.
Returning to Portugal, You Should Go Ahead
were invited to play on the main stage of the Creamfields Festival
which featured bands like Placebo and Prodigy.
After a year and a half writing new songs
the band went into the studio in December of 2007 to record the successor to
"you should go ahead".
The second album from You Should Go Ahead,
Emotional Cocktail, is scheduled to be released the 28th of April.
This is a joint release of the band and EDEL Portugal. Tem first single to come
out of this album is rave party machine.
".Tetchy new wave from Lisbon, Portugal,
with scratchy guitars pinned down by squelchy synths and a pop pervert vocal."
James Jam (New Musical Express 16-Sept-2006 "Breaking Bands")
