Biography of Young Sham

Oakland born rapper, Brian “Sham” Green also known as Young Sham, has dominated the California Bay Area’s underground hip hop scene for years. Sham is known as being one of the most lyrical artists’ not only to gain recognition in a heartless environment, but also on school grounds and in the streets. He is highly respected for his flawless freestyle skills, hard punch lines, and the delivery of a cold blooded smooth criminal. Aside from his skills of being a highly talented emcee, Sham is also known for being able to rap about real life situations. Years later, he has continued to stay consistent with his music career. Sham has dropped numerous mixtapes and one official street album. Not only has he released his own lining of work but he is also featured on various mixtapes, albums, and songs with other artist. To this day, Brian continues to live up to the name, “The Realist Emcee from the Bay Area”, according to LavMagazine in 2008.

Sham currently released his mixtape “HomeRun 3”, which is the third mixtape of the HomerRun series. In early 2004, Sham released his first solo mixtape titled, “Young Sham the Mixtape”. During that period of time, he had no promotion team in his corner. So Sham had to distribute units independently in the streets. In late 2005, he released, “Homerun the Mixtape”, which helped gain acceptance as an artist and to keep the streets wanting more. One song off this mixtape called, “Hula Hoop”(produced by Young Sham), became a crowd favorite, along with “Hear It Comin’”(also produced by Young Sham). Another crowd favorite was a song titled, “Anytime”, specifically targeted towards the female audience. To show that his creativity would continue to grow, another mixtape was released in early 2007 titled, “Homerun Vol. 2 The ReMixtape”. Sham was determined to stay consistent with his music and getting it out for everyone to hear. The following year, in late 2008, Sham released a street album titled, “Slaughter House”. His music continued to receive praise all over the region, when this album dropped. Not only was Sham taking over the streets through mixtapes and venues, he also gained recognition for his freestyle videos and battletapes. His lyrical talents along with his nonchalant but cocky swagger are evident in every song he takes breath on.

Since the beginning of his music career, he has grown tremendously. He strives to create and produce great music that not only people can relate to, but to enjoy as well. Don’t mistake his attitude for too much cockiness but confidence at the highest level. When it comes to music, Sham is a perfectionist and doesn’t release anything unless he knows the crowd will love it. That’s exactly what he is striving for with his next street album that will be coming out in 2010. He is known as “The Realist Emcee from the Bay Area”, and that name will always give him the pride and motivation to keep on doing what he’s doing to make music that everyone will love.
