Darrien / Young FM

Darrien "Young Fresh Money" Scott was born in Long Island, New York. As a child, he often listened to his mother play music through the house and quickly established an ear for music. But it wasn't until a troublesome time in his life that he actually sat down and decided to Pursue it. "I was incarcerated and started writing poems to my mom on the outside, and it all just sort of fell into place from there." Those poems by Young FM quickly transformed into raps and songs. Young FM's immense vocabulary, as well as his ability to improvise or "freestyle" quickly caught on. "We used to crack on each other just to pass the time, and I started making it rhyme." Young FM took part in battle after battle, and he was never defeated. He has since retired from the freestyle battles to pursue a career in song writing over just rapping. "I want to make change through my words. I want to know I make at least one person smile everyday from my music." Young FM also stands out due to the lyrical content of his music. "Everybody rappin that 'trap music'. I don't knock it. I actually listen to a lot of it, but rhyming, writing it - is not me because I left that life a long time ago." Now Young FM is a contender for the crown to the thrown that is Karolina South. "There's a lot of rappers out here doing it, but I feel like my grind and passion for music is going to ultimately play out into a record deal." Well that is defenitely something we'll all be watching closely to find out.
