Y.O., the flagship artist on his own label Blu’Chip Records, brings a new charismatic sound to Hip Hop culture.



Born in Lincoln, Nebraska, the son of a Nigerian immigrant, Y.O. would spend his early years in a single parent house-hold till his mother and he moved to the Southwest side of Houston Texas. Growing up in a harsh and poverty stricken environment will fuel Y.O.’s ambition to make something of himself and not become another victim of the streets.



“As a youngin’ I used rapping as a way to express my thoughts and talk about the things going on in my life. It was therapy; my self expression.”



With his street savvyness, clever word play, witty punch lines and vivid lyrical content makes it evident that Y.O. is reminiscent of an age when great music sold records. Despite the current state of Hip Hop, he refuses to make music that doesn’t represent who he is! Y.O.’s concept development and willingness to take risk in his music show impressively, so far his gamble is paying off. Y.O. has toured and shared the stage with some of Hip Hop’s most renowned names including Bun-B, Lil Flip, Chamillionaire, and even the legendary Scarface.
