BIOGRAPHY
X Rated is a bold and outrageous performer that has captured the attention of many in an industry that is flooded with rappers and hip-hop artists. Her delivery has a raw and powerful impact similar to that of Missy "Misdemeanor" Elliott. She is not afraid to say what other people think, and she's been 'telling it like it is' for ten years.
X Rated originated from one of the biggest music capitals in the world, Detroit, Michigan. Her father is a blues and jazz musician, so she has been exposed to music from a very early age. She took tap and ballet classes as a young child which helped nurture her love of music. As she matured, she began expressing herself through poetry which led her to the creation of lyrics accompanied by music. To develop her own self-image and stage presence, she has taken acting and modeling classes at Barbizon Modeling School and John Casablancas Modeling School. She's been writing and performing her own material for years, developing her artistic strengths and paying her dues. She is currently networking to establish herself on the West Coast. She is also working on her degree in Applied Science of Musical Engineering. She is in the process of doing her first professional music video and developing her own clothing line.
X Rated has developed her own style while collaborating with other artists, record labels, and several studios. Her first opportunity was by advertising a CD that she is on, which features "Bizarre" from D12 (R.I.P. "Proof"). She was key in marketing that CD, and with that kind of drive, hunger, and self-motivation she is committed to her dream of being a top artist in the music industry. She has also worked on collaborating with local and international artists and is featured on their albums as well. One of the most notable recently has been used in an independent movie soundtrack "Akumu" expected to be released internationally later in 2009. X Rated has worked in many clubs and was very successful at promoting her shows, working with the DJ's to get her music played in clubs, and building her fan base.
As for radio play, X Rated has gotten her music played on Detroit's WJLB and Ann Arbor's WCBN. She has also done personal appearances and interviews at the University of Michigan college radio station.
X Rated has presently released her debut album "Planet X". It has been a lot of time and commitment with this much anticipated work that bares her soul. She is already working toward the release of her next album "Addicted". It is expected to be released March 28th, 2009.
The fans that have seen X Rated on stage keep coming back for more. Her energy and powerful lyrics have fans addicted to her sound. Her mantra is that "Music comes from every walk of life and knows no boundaries, so walk with her across the line."
