Wrongkong

Whoever lands on the franconian-canadian formation Wrongkong's Myspace page these days, might not believe their ears. No worries, they're still the same old Wrongkong! But they haven't only switched up their make-up by welcoming Fred Newman aboard as their new keyboarder. Moreover in content, Wrongkong has ripened, and is carefully filing away at the disco-based structure of their new songs. A background where plenty is possible: Influences from Independent, Electronic, and (yes, no need to whisper it here) Pop, melt down into their own fascinating denominator, in which the charismatic front-girl Cyrena is standing.

Whether Graphics, Internet-presence, new songs, Promotion or Press-work, Wrongkong has laid down a stupendous ground-work in DIY fashion over the last 2 years. Even before the self titled debut-album release (USA: Mintyfresh, EU: Modernsoul) one finds the first tracks being made: Live shows at the Bavarian Open, in front of more than 5000 avid Nuremburger Bardentreffen Guests, and as support for Kosheen. With the album, the tracks get longer: Southside, Sonnenrot, Weinturm Open Air, Viertelfest, On 3 Radio Festival, Taubertal, Obstwiesenfestival.

The single Real Boy gets a crown at Cravefest in Toronto, and Wrongkong finds themselves beside acts like Thom Yorke and Alex Is On Fire, on the winners podium. Shortly after, Wrongkong is named Best International Electronic Group by Toronto Exclusive. To Top things off, the single makes it into the top 15 of the campus charts for several weeks (Radio Fritz, Bayern 3, Energy, Radio Bremen 4, Radio Top 40).

With their new songs, Wrongkong is lacing this thread seamlessly. Alongside a video that the band is planning to record with fans all over the world, the confirmations for remixes from Mikroboy (Ministry of Sound), Jayl Funk (Timewarp), Dadajugend (Audiolith) and Michael Melchner (Cargo Edition) of My dearest enemy, have already been made. And that is surely nowhere near the end of the flagpole. A year full of surprises. A Wrongkong year.
