History In the Making
On February 16, 1986 we welcomed a star into the world. Tobechi Jeffrey Anakwe also known as FAMIS was born. Twenty-three years later later a Hip Hop Mogul in the making has arrived to take over the Hip Hop game. With 20 plus songs contending for national and international radio play, Famis has innovated, re-mastered and remodeled the game with his unique style and “swagger” while raising the bar and paving the way for unsigned artists. Some of the industry’s elites are trying to anticipate Famis’s next move. Becoming the most anticipated unsigned hip hop artist of the decade was far from easy for Famis.
Over the years, Famis went through 7 different schools in 7 years taking criticism from countless teachers and principals saying that he would never make it. Then Famis’s hoop dreams deflated ending his college basketball career after only 1 year. Motivated by the negative environment around him and yearning to prove many doubters wrong Famis took his struggle to the recording studio spending countless hours and sleepless nights , recording hit songs such as, Doors Fold Up, Hollaback, Take A Picture, Big Time, just to name a few. Working with over 9 different producers (Konrad, 88 Keys, S&S) and crafting what many say is an old school style with a new school twist, FAMIS has managed to collaborate with over 20 different featured arists…from NYC, Jersey, Philly, DC, and VA across to Cali, Texas, and back over to ATL.
Growing up, FAMIS was influenced by hip hop legends from, Run DMC, Naughty by Nature, Slick Rick, Big Daddy Kane to the late Tupac Shakur, Big L, Big Pun, and Notorious BIG. This early development led to a young FAMIS who started to DJ parties at the young age of 11. By the age of 12, Famis was writing his first songs and knew at that point in his life he would strongly impact the world either athletically with his basketball talent or musically with his song writing and rapping ability.
Countless hours of traveling interstate from Philadelphia through New Jersey back to his residence in New York City; followed by encounters with countless studios, dealing many times with “haters” who doubted his future success, instilled fire inside the 23 year old FAMIS.
A plan was set in place 11 years ago. That plan is now realized. That plan was to become *WORLDWIDEFAMIS* and now that has become a reality.
