Based in Tottenham, North London, Wordplay Studios has been running strong since its inception in 2003. Originally located in the spare room, the studio moved to a more professional environment mid 2004. Since then Wordplay has grown from strength to strength. The road hasn’t always been smooth or easy, in fact far from it, but there is no success without pain and Wordplay has shown over the years that if something is worth dreaming it's worth fighting for.



Wordplay is a vocal recording studio where all are welcome; from the young to the old, novices to veterans, beginners to professionals. We cater for all musical tastes specialising in RnB, Hip Hop, Grime, Garage, Drum n Bass and even pop. Any genre is welcome and you can feel safe in the knowledge that no client is, or ever has been, treated any better or any worse than the next. At Wordplay ALL clients are just as important as each other, no one person receives special treatment because you ALL do!!!



In a professional yet relaxed and extremely friendly environment, you’ll be free to express yourself without fear of judgement or dicrimination. You’ll receive all the benefits of an experienced engineer whose life is his work. You’ll record in a large sound-proofed vocal booth with your tracks mixed down live whilst you wait as part of your recording time through a large 32 track mixer running on Cubase.

The one they call Mix on buttons is possibly one of the hardest workers in this and most industries! At times it seems like he works 24 hours a day and never seems to take a day off. He lives, breathes and s***s music, it runs through his veins. His love for music and what he does keeps him and the studio alive whilst his passion for improvement (his own and his clients') keeps him moving forward when he coud just as easily settle for where he is and the easy life.



Like most Engineers Mix started out as rapper, and still occasionally dabbles in the rawest of musical art forms. Being an engineer influenced his rap and production in a big way, so much so he pretty much quit rapping altogether due to applying unneccessary pressure to produce perfection in himself. Forgetting the fundamental reason for making music.Love not Money.



Nowadays Mixy concentrates on making the best out of those around him. Never one to hold back or hate on anyone's success he’s always got some sort of advice whether you choose to listen or not! He is proud of what he does and feels very strongly that the inner city youth of today are getting a raw deal, especially in the media, and are not geting the help they need or deserve. Mixy says "No one talks to these young people, just continually make assumptions about them. The expectance of these kids is very low thanks in no small part to the glorification of crimes committed by small numbers in the media. The picture painted by the press would have you believe most kids are on this road ting yet in reality this couldn’t be further from the truth"



"These kids deserve our respect not our discrimination! Our youth is being alienated and if we are not careful the next generation will be one of hate, anger and resentment". Mixy continues, "I wish the view I have was universal. I wish London Tonight showed at least one positive piece about these kids. Some kids that come here save up a week’s lunch money to pay for studio time in pursuit of a career where at the moment, there are no successes, no examples to follow- in short seemingly chasing the impossible dream!"
