Wings ~ Listen To What The Man Said 1975 Disco Purrfection Version - Video
PUBLISHED:  Jun 24, 2013
DESCRIPTION:
Paul McCartney continued his string of hit singles with the disco flavored "Listen To What The Man Said" which has a distinctive Wolfman Jack-like spoken intro that Paul did to mimic of the Meters guitarist Leo Nocentelli. It shot to #1 knocking Neil Sedaka's compostion "Love Will Keep Us Together" as recorded by Captain & Tennille off the top of the charts. Sedaka had high praise for his successor which he termed "terrific". Wings was still in the formative stages and several members came and went during the recording of "Venus & Mars" so much so that "Listen..." was not gelling as it should have. Enter jazz veteran Tom Scott whose distinctive soprano saxophone solo helped to complete the puzzle, just like he would do with the lyricon solo in Michael Jackson's "Billie Jean". The summer of 1975 was not complete without this song...it was all over the place and reminds me how much fun summer can be, beaches, amusement parks, camping, BBQ's, bike rides, baseball, swimming, damn Im feeling nostalgic today!
