WILLIE CORTEZ

Nestled amongst the small town debris of Perpignan in the south of France, Willie Cortez had his first drum kit and band, "The Young Wolves" at age 10. The years that followed included talent quests and culminated in local punk band Sex God Missy who recorded a bunch of demo tapes and released a 7 inch single on LGDC records (Hot Rod Factory). At age twenty he absconded for the big lights of London where he found quirky Canadian band Melt who he joined (on drums) as they played the city’s indie clubs,recorded a single on Boogle Wonderland which got them airplay on John Peel, XFM and reviews in the NME and Melody Maker. A year later Melt decides to move back to Canada where they will write some more songs and embark on a US tour so Willie follows.After the tour Willie leaves Melt to join Vancouver BC based proto art rock outfit 500 + Crave and soon they relocate to the UK. In 1999 things take a turn once again geographically when Cortez goes on a trip to Barcelona and decides to stay there. "I felt it was high time for me to start singing again, and write some material",which he did,working on his machines and experimenting with beats and textures.Performing at drum n bass parties in Barcelona with artists like Ed Rush,Ink & Loxy ,Kemal and Rob data,enabled him to sharpen his style vocally and find a record deal with EMI owned Delabel. Released in January 2004 ,and followed by concerts at Festivals like "Printemps de Bourges" and "Transmusicales", his debut album FARSUCT (From A Reliable Source U Can Trust) is an album which can not fit into any pigeon hole as rock or pure electronica.Essentially this is a record that is laid down with dirty funky beats against a myriad of influences showing lyrically a social criticism and maturity to song writing that defies such a debut.



In 2005 Willie formed ,along with his brother Alex, the two piece band SEPPUKU PARADIGM who have released a first EP independently in 2007 (SEPPUKU PARADIGM - Unedited/Unreviewed EP / Farsuct Global Communication).Since then Willie has experimented with film music and has worked with movie directors such as Julien Seri (for Scorpion) , Franck Vestiel (for Eden Log) and Pascal Laugier (for Martyrs).
