Fly will rip your heart out with her lyrics

Laurie (Fly) and Rick Williams are an internationally acclaimed writing duo. Both are 'old as gold' and just as solid. Fly has been a life long peace activist, a flower child of the 60s who spent most of her college days in a purple haze and politically active. Her songs, poems and published works have always reflected her concerns. Their song, "Between Iraq and Hard Place' was selected to be on a CD called 'Protest Songs for a Better Planet' and has been aired world wide. Her friends affectionatly refer to her lyrics as the 'slit-your-wrist' varity but they aim right to the heart, be it politically or emotionally. "I believe that in each of us there is a place for exquisite pain, longing and love. It is from this place that I find my words." (direct quote from Fly).
She has been likened to a female Leonard Cohen and Bob Dylan with her deep felt poetry and pure, emotional vocals. She also happens to be about 80% deaf, so listen to the words and excuse any 'pitchiness - running on relative pitch here guys. LISTEN to the WORDS.

Rick Williams has been in the music world since childhood. He and his family 'The Williams Family' were big in the gospel field in the 60's and then they switched to pop music and opened for many top names on the 'Fair Curcuit'. Rick is a clinical psychologist and a college professor during the year, but 'the singing shrink' became a Bluegrass star when the weather heated up. His group, The Nearly Brothers, recently broke up, as all good groups must eventually. Rick is now writing classical music and is currently finishing up a full Requiem for full orchestra and choir. Yes, it is a bit of a jump from Bluegrass, but our Rick never was one to let the grass, blue or otherwise, grow beneath him. We have also started a new CD based on songs Fly wrote in Boston when she went to see Leonard Cohen in concert. "Attic Songs' promises to be a sophistocated killer so hang onto your hearts (and razor blades).
We traveled a bit to Scotland a while back, where we recorded a CD with our friend and GREAT rock/blues singer, Huntly. We worked, recorded, ate, drank (a lot) and had a perfect time. We hosted our Aussie pal, songwriter and singer, Lisa Butler, founder of Imaginotionsongs.com and coordinator and founder of the Australian Songwriter's Conference. We had a wonderful visit, had time for some quality recording and exchanging of trade secrets between continents. I love all of this international collaberation! This year we have stayed State side and worked local Mother Earth, but are currently collaborating with other writers in Australia, the Philipines, Singapore and Spain.

Celtic Folk Podcast
celtic folk podcast
Laurie and Rick Williams are selected artists and have their their songs played on the Celtic Folk Podcast.
The Celtic Folk Podcast , which is available online via download or subscription. The show is a popular celtic and roots site showcasing both indie and signed artists that have a body of work that includes traditional Celtic music, as well as modern tunes and songs influenced by the traditional genre.

Rick and Laurie had their song, "Between Iraq and Hard Place" selected to be a part of an international effort and compilation CD, "Protest Songs For a Better Planet", the first edition. The 13 track CD is the brainchild of Producer Brian Gladstone of Ontario, Canada and all proceeds will benfit the United Nations Peace Fund. The CD compilation is now in it's fourth year and we were proud to have been selected for it's premier.
We were also deeply humbled to have had the song played during the University of Denver's (Fly's alma mater) Peace week. It was aired during the largest ever conference of living Nobel Peace Prize Laureates.
