The What it Dew Family is the latest and greatest Texas underground hip hop/rap music movement in the tradition of the (Juice Crews, Dungeon Families .) S.U.C’s, Swishas and Dipsets who came before them. Headquartered in South Austin around DJ Rapid Ric (Austin/Del Rio), Magno (Houston), Da Ryno (Houston) and Chalie Boy (Calvert/Hearne), the W.I.D. Family began as the natural result of hard work and personal loyalty.



As "Mixtape Mechanic" DJ Rapid Ric’s star began rising with the March 2004 release of "AP-2 Texas Powers" and the subsequent classic "Whut It Dew" hosted by Chamillionaire, certain artists stood out as loyal and supportive of young Ricardew. "Whut It Dew 2" hosted by Bun B and Killa Kyleon, then "Whut It Dew 3" hosted by Trae made the "Whut It Dew" series Ric’s best known brand. But the "Whut It Dew" logo was originated by legendary Austin entrepreneur Carlos of Top Dollar Clothing/Records. To clear up the confusion between the two "trademarks", the What It Dew Family will soon introduce a new logo with a barrage of upcoming mixtape releases and an original album.



What It Dew Family recently shot a 35mm video for their debut single "Pullin Up" featuring Chalie Boy and Magno, and are stockpiling more than 75 tracks to comprise their first original album. Continuing the success of DJ Rapid Ric & Chalie Boy’s mind-blowing "Versatyle Child" underground CD, the What It Dew Family is preparing to drop Ric & Magno’s "City Boyz" and then undergrounds by Da Ryno. This underground series simultaneously introduces the unique characters in the Family and builds anticipation for the debut album. W.I.D.
