A PSYCHOLOGICAL THRILLER, White Widow's new album, was recorded in her east side studio in Austin, TX. Culled from her growing interest in psychological thriller films, this album tells the dream-like story of a fictional character in ten songs that seamlessly blend together into one half-hour long soundtrack. Delving into the world of psychological struggles, this album rides the narrow line between bright-eyed desire and grotesque obsession. White Widow's visceral work "is all about taking the listener on a journey - often building layer upon layer in her songs, and slowly cranking up the emotion to a boiling point" (Muen Magazine).
A PSYCHOLOGICAL THRILLER and its concept spiked the interest of Brooklyn artists Jamie Dwyer and Justin Ulloa (Electric Wonder Creative), who are producing an orginal animated short film under the same title. Inspired by White Widow's music, the film is a fantastical and delusional portrayal of an unraveling love affair, set to the full album. Check out the trailer at APsychologicalThriller.com
In the tradition of silent films, White Widow's upcoming tour will screen the animation as she and her band perform the score. The collaboration between White Widow and Electric Wonder Creative will be expressed live and on screen, illustrating the beauty, the lust and the lurking darkness of A PSYCHOLOGICAL THRILLER. White Widow's work has always focused on the emotional power ripe in life's contradictions. Her first album, 2005's NO WOOD TO KNOCK ON, counters love's uncertainty with its attending beauty. This startling, breakout work was described as "seductive and poetic – one in which the music is menacing but the lyrics are genuine words of love, sung by a voice that's husky and ominous on the verses and high and sweet on the chorus" (Indie Music). The dream-like song Only You seduces with the allure of danger and the thrill of the unknown.
White Widow's 2007 album, IT'S MY TRAGEDY, produced with musician Doug Largent, does not shy from the breadth of emotions surrounding loss and love. Fearless of confrontation, she portrays the process of healing in all its torment. IT'S MY TRAGEDY will drag your heart across the floor and then tenderly prop it back up with honest, emotional vocals, melodic guitar licks and lust-worthy bass lines.
Before recording her third album, White Widow toured the country, opening for acts like Dave Rave of Teenage Head, and The Semi Precious Weapons, as well as performances with Steve Mazur of Our Lady Peace and Grammy nominee Grayson Hugh. Audiences have always been gripped by her live shows, "angst-drenched indie rock that ranges from bombastic to intimate, occasionally within the same song" (Jim Fusilli, Wall Street Journal). BLACK HEART, her third album, which was released in 2010, infuses lovelorn lyrics with gripping vocals. "It seems like the majority of rock artists nowadays are afraid to get right down to the heart of the matter by offering the public raw and revealing compositions. Not White Widow - as evidenced throughout her latest release, BLACK HEART" (Muen Magazine).
White Widow, "so fucking raw and groovy that it scares the shit out of me" (Sandra Bernhard, I Love Being Me, Don't You) began performing in the New York City rock scene, taking off from the legendary club CBGB in 2004 and then touring nationally and internationally (Arezzo Wave Festival Tour in Italy). At SXSW 2010, she opened for Sandra Bernhard, and continued as her musical director and on-stage backup for Bernhard on tour 2010-2011, sharing the stage with great performers such as Liza Minnelli, Justin Vivian Bond, Rufus Wainwright, and Leisha Hailey. She also appears on Sandra's latest album, I Love Being Me, Don't You.
