Welcome to the When Thoughts Reside MySpace page!

When most people think of “college bands”, there is a stereotype of messy-haired guys playing poppy Indie grooves, rivaling the fame of Dave Mathews and Jack Johnson, at the local campus coffee shop.   It's possible that this relaxed style of music is popular on college campuses due to the hectic university schedules of hard working students wanting a toned down outlet to their day.  However, there are some students that demand more from their life than simply their studies, the cliché college experience, their free time, and their music.

Formed in the fall of 2005, When Thoughts Reside started as a few friends writing some music in a basement of a UW Stout dormitory, in search of creating a fresh, new image to the typical college group and lifestyle.  As the metal-core band matured and progressed, members were switched around and the band experimented with different styles, and approaches to their music.  With Adam Gunderson as the band's screaming lead vocalist, Andrew Ridgeway and Tom Wittrock shredding the guitars, Derrick Hageness bouncing the low end on baritone and bass guitars, and drummer Andrew Beckman commanding the rhythm section, the group had finally found its niche and attitude they desired. WTR played a series of shows over the course of 2005-06, appropriately yielding the creation and completion of the new EP entitled, "ELDORADO". "ELDORADO" shows the band's versatility and growing maturity with fast, catchy rhythms, danceable licks, and doom breakdowns, combined with a prominent and legendary minor guitar sound. The band has adopted the title "Menomonie Metal" in sound description in response to the sheer individualism of their sound and style in their small college town.
