The story of Craig Emm :

Dj-ing since 1989 began collecting Hip Hop (Public Enemy,Eric B & Rakim, BDP, Schooly D etc.) & what was loosely termed 'Rave' music during the 'Summer of Love' (remember that guys?). Part of the earlier Acid House movement from 1986-87 & clubbed underage to the sounds of Stakker Humanoid, Doug Lazy, Todd Terry & Inner City.

Attended the legendary Maze Club (Commerce) in Melbourne 89-92 Australia's first underground Techno club (Acid Church!!!) along with many other important pioneers of the Dance secne in Melbourne. Discovered his love for Underground dance music there and at first Rave. Biology 1990.

Ran own Warehouse parties and played for others in Melbourne & Sydney, Australia 1990-1993. Built one of the finest collections in the country of US house and Detroit Techno, including the best releases of the legendary NuGroove, Incognito, KMS, Metroplex, Strictly Rhythm, Loudhouse,Trax, Fragile, Outer Rhythm, Jumpin' Pumpin' and Warriors Dance labels to name a few.

In 1993 flew to Perth Australia to DJ at a Rave party supposed to stay 3 days, stayed 14 years, on account of the awesome weather, clean, uncrowded environment and the HOT, SEXY CHICS that Perth has to offer. Here he really began to explore what was still called 'Jungle' or 'Breakbeat' , with the best & most exploratory exponents of the new form being on Re-inforced Records, Moving Shadow & Juice Box . 'Breaks' was yet to be isolated from the Mass of Electronic Music, still loosely defined as 'House', Rave' or 'Techno'.

Played numerous parties and club nights, ran the legendary, Underground midweeker- KF 'Wiggan' at a time when Underground truly meant something.

Got the travel bug again traversing to Broome - Pearling Capital of Northwest Australia . Here he took up residency at the Nippon Inn as DJ. and began too break beyond the confines of dance into what was beginning to be known as 'Acid Jazz' aswell as Oldskool retro Funk.

In November 1994 suffered a tragic motorcycle accident which left him close to death, unconcious for 11 days at age 23. Upon regaining conciousness discovered to his horror that he was now a Paraplegic with the prognosis condeming him to a wheelchair for life.

Refused to succumb to this gloomy prediction and immediately after 2 months in hospital secured residency at the Subiaco hotel as DJ running 'A Rebirth of Cool' playing an eclectic mix of Modern Contemporary Jazz, 70's funk, Acid Jazz and House.

Qualified as an Audio Engineer 1996 engaging many band projects and began producing own Electronica in various hardware based studios.909's.808's, Atari ST's., Juno's, Jupiters & Akais the order of the Day

Played too many venues 2 list, from his wheelchair throughout this period. Ran a number of parties 1996-1999. Many outdoors in beautiful Kings Park, Hyde Park and Queens Park Gardens. Really began to explore the Chicago sound throughout, including the best Guidance, Prescription, Cajual and the ilk had 2 offer.

1999 set up a compact Academy- Omniverse. offering DJ and Studio Production Courses and embarked seriously in 2003 on own productions in a Digital Environment. These have included a Commercial House project called 'Funk-e-type', as in Funk & Archetype, which won track of the month on commercial network Nova 93.7 (Australia wide) recieving High Rotation for a period. This is now signed to Central Station Records, Australia's biggest Independant Dance Music Distributor

Other projects include young Hip Hop crew, ('streetPUNKS!!' - 'Southpak' that had wide airplay on Groove FM. Much of his Techno, Breaks, House and Drum & Bass tracks , many of which are unreleased on any label.(label A&R guys???) have been played on RTR FM.Perth's no. 1 Community Station.



He Hopes to improve people's life experience through music and the freedom and joy provided through dance (which he misses so much. ) Awww! what a nice guy we love him so and Sooo talented!!!

His interests include Soccer (Arsenal FC), Art; Sculpture/Painting/Architecture/Literature, History, Classic Cars, Boats, Technology, Astrology, loves Animals and genuine people and Girls!! Likes to have a laugh!! He has an incredible amount of Historical knowledge and as such, has piercing Political insight which is backed by extensive research. Currently studying a bachelor of Commerce, majoring in Banking and Finance. He is a man of many skills and talents including IT, Photography (view his pictures of Perth in our pics section) and of course, Music .

He would like to be remembered as a champion of Human Rights and the Rights of the Individual, over those of the artificial State & Corporations AND ofcourse, a decent Music Producer. Intends to change 'The System' to make it fairer, more equitable and generally a more highly evolved model of Human Society. In short a nicer, better World for ALL.

Smooth, smooth as fuck and perfect to chill in the cool of nite with a Dry Martini or a Mint Julip!)

( Recorded for Flying Scotsman Uni Students Bar.a VERY eclectic mix traversing ALTERNATE 70's, 80's ie. Talking Heads, Scritti Pollitti, FGTH, Early Police, UB40, The Clash, The Stones, Early Beasties, Sex Pistols, Dead Kennedys, Human League, Depeche Mode. A must for all you old 'private school' Generation Xer's.)
