WeDis

WeDis (pronounced wee-dis), a distinctly Jamaican phenomenon emerged in 2004 as a trio, but has since evolved into this four member ensemble; defying the stereotype of Jamaican artistes, breaking through the barriers of different genres, while embracing and fusing the cultures and musical styles they have each experienced. Although individually Chris, Carolann, Micha and Shaq the MC are distinct as autonomous acts, it is a genuine love for creating ‘one of a kind’ music that shapes the bond that now exists as WeDis. All four elements bring valuable performing experiences to the fore, having previously pursued careers as solo acts, background singers, and even leads in other bands. Collectively they have appeared on countless studio recordings for prominent artistes across the globe, and have performed live or shared the stage with a slew of major local and international acts including Shaggy, Sean Paul, Luther Vandross, Sade, Bernard Lavilliers, Tami Chynn, Tessanne Chin, Sizzla, and Luciano. Nonetheless, it is a passion for music that brings WeDis to life, and gives credence to its motto: “Out of many, ONE MUSIC.”



The group’s diversity is not limited to its music. Each member contributes a personality and essence to the miscellany of sound. Micha adds flair with her commanding voice, and vocally executes with unwavering confidence. Chris is a vocal powerhouse with tremendous pitch and style range – literally from Kathleen Battle’s top ‘C’ to Barry White’s bottomless octaves. Carolann softens the blend with her smooth, sultry flavourful vocals, while Shaq the MC brings life and ‘edge’ to the group with his matchless technique in lyrical chants and singing talent. Inspired by their Jamaican roots, they all explore deejay styles, and are constantly challenged to explore their vocal talents by expressing outside their comfort zone. All this makes up the overall rounded character of the WeDis sound.

Teaming up with world renowned Studio Engineer/Producer, Rohan Dwyer, and famed Producer, Paul Lewis who both have numerous hits to their credit, the Wedis squad is solid, steeped in professionalism and perfection.
