We Are Standard

Before releasing their first album, We Are Standard had already won a number of prizes for their quality demos, arousing the interest of record labels and the media alike. If the album was a small step forward in terms of recording, it was their live performances which were most clearly boosted, with more than 150 gigs from a debut album, including trips to Europe to a number of festivals and a record release in France and the USA. In Spain We Are Standard also received the prize from Radio Nacional de España, Ojo Crítico (Critical Eye), for the best band of 2006. Their second album saw We Are Standard winning Best Spanish Band at the MTV Awards, something unusual for an indie group, collecting the award at a ceremony in Berlin in purest MTV style. The record received varying reviews, but once again the band’s live performances were thrilling, keeping them on the road for more than two years and leading to appearances at a number of festivals in America. More prizes for their videos followed (as well as a nomination for the Premios de la Música in Spain) and a great deal of ink has been spilled over those gigs. We Are Standard carry on touring, moved by one goal - to connect with the public and get people dancing. Several music magazines have given the band front cover billing, such as Mondosonoro and Inspiral pop, both of which get their message and mentality. One of the group’s most celebrated concerts took place at the FIB Festival in 2009, where they rounded off events on the main stage following Oasis, striking up a clear rapport with the public. They are also responsible for a soundtrack of an airplane decorated by Custo. They have continued in 2010, caught up in their live performances, and a third video has been produced, as well as a re-mix album with artists such as John Talabot, CFCF, David E. Sugar, In Flaganti, etc… The album was released in the UK, where reviews by music magazines like The Clash, Music Week, Mixmag, etc highlighted its loco dance values. The record has also found a place on the shelves and digital stores of Japan and other European countries too. Hedonism, fun and a sense of communion - We Are Standard has it all in one. Antes de editar su primer disco, We Are Standard ya habían ganado varios premios por la calidad de sus maquetas y habían despertado el interés de sellos y medios. Con él dieron un pequeño paso discográfico, pero lo que afianzaron con claridad era su directo, con más de 150 conciertos con un disco de debut y viajes a Europa para actuar en algunos festivales, además de editar el disco en Francia o USA. En España reciben el premio Ojo crítico de Radio Nacional de España a la mejor banda del 2006. Con su segundo disco ganan el premio al Mejor Grupo Español dentro de los MTV Awards, algo inusual para un grupo de una independiente, y lo recogen en Berlin en una ceremonia al más puro estilo MTV. El disco recibe críticas de la más diversa índole, pero de nuevo apasiona un directo que les mantiene durante más de dos años en la carretera, con saltos a varios festivales en América. Con algún premio más a sus videos (también la nominación a los Premios de la Música) y mucha tinta vertida sobre su paso por los escenarios siguen girando y girando con un obejtivo: conectar con la gente y hacerles bailar. Varias publicaciones hacen que We Are Standard ocupen su portada, Mondosonoro e Inspiral pop entre ellas, que entienden su mensaje y mentalidad. Uno de los conciertos mas festejados del grupo tiene lugar en el Festival FIB de 2009 cerrando el escenario principal tras Oasis y creando una clara comunión entre público y grupo. También son protagonistas de la banda sonora de un avión decorado por Custo. En 2010 siguen enfrascados en su directo y se crea un tercer video del grupo asi como un disco de remezclas con participantes como John Talabot, CFCF, David E. Sugar, In Flaganti, etc… El disco además se publica en Reino Unido, donde criticas de medios como The Clash, Music Week, Mixmag, etc. lo destacan por su frenesí dedicado al baile. También Japón y países Europeos ven como su disco ocupa las estanterías y tiendas digitales. Hedonismo, diversión y comunión, We Are Standard todo en uno.
