We started out in April 2007 as college students in search of a break from the agenda involving all night study sessions and boring jobs. Will had been in and out of several bands in the past and was armed with a rough track demo recorded by a friend. He searched around campus until he befriended Rob, a drummer who had a list of former bands under his belt as well. Upon discovering their similarities in music and a passion for playing, they started practicing and writing material based off the demo instantly. In search of a bassist to complete the group, they came across Michael who was looking to play bass.

They started practicing and soon had formed a tight sound, deciding to stick with the name "We Are Normal". They recorded a six song demo at a local studio engineered by Mike Nash. After playing a few gigs and writing newer material which expanded in range from punk, grunge, southern rock, classic rock, "pure rock n' roll", and good old D.I.Y., they set out to record the new material. In deciding to go back into the studio at the beginning of 2008, they found that Michael was having a difference in ideas and was looking to pursue his own project. Not wishing to hold him back, the original members bid him farewell and wished him luck in his future. After searching for another bassist and not having any luck, along with putting off studio time for a while, the two piece decided not to let anything hold them back in their pursuit for fun and doing what they love. When they returned to the studio, Rob recorded all his backing vocal and drum tracks and Will recorded the bass, lead and rhythm guitar tracks, and vocals; a feat that took them eight hours and less than $200. When they were done, they discovered that they had recorded twenty tracks of original material, but only wished to lay down and finalize ten for their first, and only, self titled album release. They continued to play out as a two piece with many local bands from around North Carolina. After a little over a year of playing, recording, writing, practicing and keeping the sound alive for as long as they could manage, Will and Rob decided it was best to retire the band and pursue different projects for their futures in music.

Will relocated from the coastal region of southeastern NC, to the mountainous valley of Fort Collins, CO. Rob still resides in North Carolina.

They are both anxious and excited to be starting new projects in 2009 and continuing to do what they love.

Thanks to everyone who supported the band throughout our time and all the bands we played with. We leave the music on this page for you to enjoy.
