Modern Culture as a band has been together for nearly two years.

They are a four-piece outfit consisting of Andy Johnson, (Magic), Drums; Lee Welsh, (Welshy), Guitar; Brian McDermott, (Bri), Bass and Barry Wood (Badger) - Vocals

They're story begins when they won A Battle of the Bands competition at The Shore (to whom they will always be eternally grateful) a council run under 18 youth project, where first prize was a days recording with a local music producer.

From those early days they appeared to amass a loyal following, who now support the band regularly in the local venues when they play.

They have been played on XFM Scotland, where Jim Gellatly referred to them as "O wow a band with stacks of attitude but thankfully some great songs as well". They have played most of the main music venues in Dundee including The Doghouse, Dexters, The Reading Rooms, The Marquee and Hustlers. They have also played Barfly in Glasgow and the Jules Holland Jam House in Edinburgh. They recently came first place in the Tay FM BOTB in which first prize was £500 cash, a trophy and a spot on stage at the fireworks display 2009.

They said "We as a band enjoy what we do, and we love the buzz we receive from our fans when we are on stage. We like to think that our music offers something new to anyone who comes to hear us. We believe that our tracks are just that little bit different from today's music and are classed as new rock".
