Wayward Sons

The Wayward Sons band is one of Central Texas' top performing acts. Having tailored its sound to provide quality entertainment for its host establishments, the band has received welcome applause from club owners and patrons alike. From complimenting the traditional country feel of the Stockyards in Ft.Worth to "Turning it Up" in a Waco Rock-n-roll club to playing for an outdoor wedding, the Wayward Sons do something for everybody. Each member brings something unique to the table, forming an incredible blend of style and taste, ultimately resulting in a delicious dish of country-rock delight! Bassist/vocalist David Lednicky started this band over 13 years ago (as the acoustic guitar player) for kicks and grins. David switched over to bass guitar to satisfy his own personal taste in February of 1997. That opened the door for Joel R. Wood to step in, who handles all of the guitar duties as well as sings. He also pulls out the harmonica on occasion and every now and then breaks out the keyboard for something a little different. David and Joel switch off on lead vocals, usually splitting it up about 50/50. The are also both talented songwriters in their own rights, and each of them have written songs that will be on the upcoming CD. Their tight harmonies and musical talents are highlights of each and every show. David and Joel have covered many miles together, seeing other members come and go over the years. The newest addition to the band is drummer Clayton Love, who comes in with a lot of experience in a few different genres of music. The guys mesh well as they have tons in common, including the fact that all three are fathers. With a yet-to-be-named CD of all-original music now being recorded, the guys are quite busy playing music, keeping full-time day-jobs and having a personal life, too. Being a staple of the Central Texas nightlife scene, the Wayward Sons play clubs as well as private functions such as weddings or parties. They manage a smooth transition between such different style shows by keeping a well-stocked catalog of songs to pull from. They can easily be two or three different bands in a matter of nights. One night may find them playing honky-tonk country songs at a tavern, and then the next night they could well be at a party playing straight-ahead rock and roll!
