LIL WAR

Chicago is home to many diverse people, places and things Rich in culture and style, it is

the epitome of the heartland. From the early Al Capone days to the current gang and

corruption infested streets that exist to day, chicago is a jungle. Inside of this jungle, comes

Lil War, a young, talented, yet hungry, skilled artist. Growing up poor on Chicago’s

infamous Southside (Finntown to be exact), War was often faced with adversity. His parents

separated when he was merely a kid. As a confused and misguided preteen, War often

lashed out getting into physical altercations as well as hanging with the wrong crowd. He

begin to follow in his big brother’s footsteps, which lead him to the street life. With his

mother being a single parent, War was often to much to deal with. When his behavior

problems, followed by his lack of enthusiasm for school and domestic life became

unbearable, War was shipped to Alabama to live with his father. Being in the country was

such a major difference than the big city life War was accustomed to. War began to mature

and calm down, also he developed a strong love for music. He began to focus on what he

wanted to do with his life.

Upon moving back to Chicago, War began to fall in love with rap.

At first, he would freestyle, as a way to be creative and expressive. When his friends noticed

his natural ability to flow and put words together , they suggested he become more serious.

War saw rap as a way to respect, money and also a way out of the dangerous street life he

couldn’t seem to shake. At age 23, War and older brother Kaoz started there very own

independent imprint, known as Money Grip Musik. In 2000, they released “FT. MOB LIFE

VOL. I”, Which was an instant hood classic. Increasing the damand for what is labeled as

“street musik”, War followed the “FT. MOB LIFE” cd with a solo venture harshly titled “THA

CRACK ALBUM VOL. I”. Currently, War is working with his brother Kaoz for the upcoming

“36 oz’s Cash On Delivery” mixtape. Also in the works for War is the “CRACK ALBUM

PART II.- THA BUTTA ADDITION”. War took his hardships and put them into full fledged

songs that others can identify with. Young, black men all across America can relate to

War. He represents the struggle, the pain and the everyday life of your everyday hustler in the hood.
