Voltor és un grup de hard-core/metal en català, que naix el 2002 a Aldaia, comarca de l'Horta (País Valencià), on comença a donar-se a conèixer actuant en diferents indrets de la zona. Dos anys més tard graven una maqueta, Identitat (autoeditat, 2004), on es pot sentir una descàrrega metàl•lica amb guitarres contundents, percussió ensordidora, i veu estripada, tot i que no exclusivament, doncs comptaven regularment amb la col•laboració d'una secció de vents, que hi posava el contrapunt. Aquesta primera demostració, amb lletres cent per cent socials, fou la que començà a donar ressò a la banda.
Després d'una reorganització dels membres del grup i de l'augment dels concerts per tot arreu, el 2005 enregistren el seu primer disc a l'estudi de Cambra Records, titulat Aprenent a Volar. Hom ara s'hi troba amb nou talls on aprofundeixen en el so metàl•lic i el hard-core, amb unes lletres decididament compromeses, exportant a "Encén l'oïda" i a "Atac feixista" les seues experiències personals directes; d'altra banda el disc compta amb diverses col•laboracions com la de Xavi Sarrià (Obrint Pas) a "Quan no quede res" i la de distints membres d'Sva-ters a "L'horta", a més recuperen i evolucionen el tema "Solidaritat" de la maqueta.
Han realitzat un intens treball dalt i baix dels escenaris durant gairebé tot 2005, 2006 i 2007 amb la gira d' Aprenent a Volar (2005), junt a la important participació al primer Tourbolet Show (www.tourbolet.com), i nombroses actuacions per donar-hi suport a tota classe d'iniciatives i projectes populars. També van resultar guanyadors del concurs "Tirant de rock” (2007), i van participar a diversos festivals de renom com ara el Festivern (07-08), el concert pel 25 d'abril (1707-2007) "300 anys de lluites i cançons" a València i al 3er Festival Rock a la Mar de Dénia (Marina Alta), entre d’altres.
Cal destacar altres projectes i col•laboracions importants realitzades durant aquest llarg temps entre discos, d’una banda la participació del cantant en els concerts de la gira d’Obrint Pas “Un poble en moviment” i d’altra banda la producció conjunta d’una versió d’una cançó del grup KOP (realitzada entre Obrint Pas, Boikot i Voltor), que fou editada dins del nou disc d’aquesta formació gironina “Nostrat” (Propaganda Pel Fet, 2008).
En desembre de 2008, després d’un llarg procés de composició, gravació i edició, ix a la venda el nou disc Perill d’extinció (Cambra Records), amb 12 temes carregats de força i innovació. Aquest darrer treball, ha rebut ja un premi a la innovació musical, a càrrec de l’Institut Valencià de la Música (Generalitat Valenciana), i d’altra banda, cal dir que fou enregistrat per Alberto Díaz als estudis d’Aural Records (Xirivella, País Valencià) i masteritzat per Juan Hidalgo a les instal•lacions de Mastertips Mastering (Madrid). Respecte a la formació, cal dir que s’ha afegit un punxa discos per a deixar palesa, també als directes, la força dels efectes i música electrònica que apareixen al nou disc.
Tot seguit, el mateix desembre de 2008, es van fer diverses presentacions de disc al País Valencià, a Principat de Catalunya i a l’illa de Mallorca (IBiP). A hores d’ara, encaren aquest 2009 amb la intenció de fer una important gira de presentació del disc que començarà el 28 de febrer de 2009.

Voltor was formed in 2002 in Aldaia (L'horta) and kicked off by performing several gigs throughout the Valencian Land, thus making themselves known to a wide number of people. Two years later, a 4-track demo was recorded in which we can appreciate the strongly metallic voice of overwhelming guitars and percussion counterpointed by wind instruments. This first demonstration, with committed social lyrics, began to echo the band's name all around.
After a line-up reorganization and a schedule full of gig dates, in 2005, Voltor, like the vulture, took off and recorded their first studio album with Cambra Records called “Aprenent a volar”, with new attempts to go deeply into metal and hardcore sounds with a very involved message as in “Encén L'oïda” and “Atac Feixista” which was inspired by their own personal experiences. The band was aided by various collaborations including the great one by Xavi Sarria (vocals for Obrint Pas) in “Quan no quede res” and in addition to it, an old, but improved, theme was recovered from the demo (Solidaritat).
Matters like the freedom of speech, currently in danger in the Valencian Land, in “Extrem”; the “land destruction” in “L'Horta” and the tight defence of roots in “Fills d'un sentiment” among a call for justice throughout the world, make clear the reason for their anger and the emotions that are reflected on the songs that make up the album.
Voltor bet for opening our minds, giving a shout for social justice and respecting the environment and the people, and they regard the permanent struggle as the only way to achieve freedom.
Right now we are making the songs that will make up the upcoming album, which is expected to be out this autum of 2007 (Approximate Release: 1st November) After an intense work going up and down the stages during 2005 and 2006 presenting Aprenent a volar, along with our important participation at the first Tourbolet Show and the endless performings to support all sorts of initiatives and popular projects, mostly those of the Independence Left, mainly throught the Catalan Countries but also through other oppressed regions. Now we are committed to taking a step forward, and we're back onstage this year [2007] with the firm intention to make ourselves known even more, open to reach everywhere in the world where people and organisations struggling for (personal/social/national) liberation, in order to explain, as we've been doing up to date, our very own struggle, the best way we know, by playing music. Lately, we've been found winners of the "Tirant de rock 2007" contest, among other prizes such as playing this year's Festivern (07-08). Moreover, we have to remark that we've taken part quite succesfully at the April 25th gigs (1707-2007) "300 anys de lluites i canços" (300 years of fight and songs) in Valencia and at the 3rd Rock a la Mar Festival of Denia (Marina Alta). With a more elaborated and overwhelming sound and stage act, we present new themes with a little range of songs and versions.
