Volfoniq

ENGLISH :



Volfoniq is a French "one-man-dub" band born in 2004, melting ska, reggae or ragga with electronics to create his own interpretation of Dub.
Respecting the roots of Jamaican music, Volfoniq features driving skanks with built in low-fi and electronic moods, cooking the whole dish with world spices in order to create a special receipe.



Since his birth, Volfoniq choosed the "free" way to produce and broadcast his music. Every track is under Creative Commons licence (CC by-nc-nd 2.5).



Creative commons is not only about free download and copy, it's also a mean for Volfoniq to encounter other artists and have collaborations that would not have been possible if he was affiliated to an author rights management company.
That's how Volfoniq met Jahtari people in Germany (respect and blessings to you all) producing one 7” for them, Dr Dub in Holland wich whom he made several dubs and remixes, and played with in the "Dub en sauce" festival. He also met this way the japanese hiphop artist "Azzurro", made two remix with him out on wax in japan. Lots of other collaborations were born like this (Ras Amerlock in the USA, Arrogalla & Sardinia Bass Legalize in Sardinia, Hotdrop in spain, Peak & Jambassa in Italy, Tribuman & Unity Vibration in France,.).



This way of collaborating led Volfoniq on numerous stages in France and also foreign countries.

Formation "electro-ethno-dub" à géométrie variable née fin 2004 à Montpellier.



« Dub » dans sa forme et d'inspiration "world" (Jamaïque, Inde, Brésil, Moyen-Orient.) l'univers de Volfoniq n'a pas de frontières. L'électronique y est utilisée comme un chaudron de métissage pour une interprétation personnelle et atypique du "dub". La formation s'est construite autour du compositeur et multi-instrumentiste PakuPaku (composition, programmation, mélodica, flute et petites percussions) et fait la part belle à toute sorte de collaborations.



Depuis sa création, Volfoniq a choisi la « libre diffusion » :
Les licences creative commons ne sont pas seulement un outil de diffusion, c'est aussi un moyen pour Volfoniq de mener de nombreuses collaborations qui n'auraient pas pu voir le jour en étant affilié à une société privée de gestion des droits d'auteurs.
C'est ainsi que Volfoniq a rencontré et collaboré avec Disrupt (Jahtari – Allemagne), Bo Marley (Jahtari – Danemark), Dr Dub (LCL - Pays Bas), Azzurro (Loud & proud – Japon), Ras Amerlock (Jahtari – USA), Arrogalla (Nootempo – Sardaigne) Sardinia Bass Legalize (A Quiet Bump – Sardaigne), Hotdrop (La famille – Espagne), Peak & Jambassa (A Quiet Bump – Italie), Tribuman et Unity Vibration en France.



Cette soif d'échanges a conduit Volfoniq sur de nombreuses scènes françaises et étrangères :
