BR6 is the story of six singer-friends living and working in Rio de Janeiro

who got together to form a vocal group. But, unlike most other groups that

do it with voices backed by a band, BR6 (6 professional musicians and arrangers)

chose the most difficult way of making vocal music: without any instruments.

The group has been influenced by various generations of Brazilian

vocal groups and by the American a cappella group Take 6. Their initial CD,

“Música Popular Brasileira A Cappella”, won the best CD of the year 2005 in

the Folk/World Album category from CASA (The Contemporary A Cappella

Society). “Here To Stay: Gershwin & Jobim” is their first album in English and

the debut release for the group in the US. Comprised of familiar standards

by George Gershwin and Tom Jobim and recorded with no instruments other

than voices, “Here To Stay: Gershwin & Jobim” was produced and arranged

entirely by the group members.

The album has been released in June, 2007, in USA and Canada , in Brazil, in April, 2008, and it has been won The Contemporary A Cappella Recording Awards 2008 in the Jazz Album category. "Here To Stay" has still won a RARB (The Recorded A Cappella Review Board) Pick Of The Year for best a cappella album.

One of the best-known songs of the album "Here to Stay - Gershwin & Jobim" is "The Girl From Ipanema" by Antonio Carlos Jobim. The arrangement of this song was made by Deco Fiori (BR6 tenor) and he did it rock-and-roll style, very different from the original rhythmically.

This track has a video-clip starring Roberta Rodrigues, actress of City of God (2004 Oscar nominee) who can be presently seen in one of the most popular soap operas of the Brazilian broadcast TV (Globo).

In that clip, directed by Luciana Penna, she makes her way to the beach, a long ways from her home, to the rhythmic sound of BR6 singing Jobims all-time classic. She is a new girl from Ipanema with her special and original beauty.

BR6 is:

André Protasio (baritone)

Crismarie Hackenberg (mezzo-soprano)

Deco Fiori (tenor)

Marcelo Caldi (tenor)

Naife Simões (vocal percussion)

Simô (bass)
