A Northern-Virginia based Alternative/Metal/Punk band who got their start in 2006 continues to make great music and rock local audiences at shows on the east coast. Vitreous has very deep powerful songs as well as an in your face power metal edge. Intelligent song writing in the group produces technical pieces that make you want more! A fun group of guys both on and off stage, Vitreous is something you must see live!
Originally formed by Justin Lavin and George S. in 2006, the band has gone thru more than just a few changes over the last 4 years. There are but only one of the remaining 'original' members from the EP in the band as of the start of the year for one thing, and that was not all that changed in late 2009.
Matt Stark, one of the bands primary song writers announced in early December of 2009 that he would need to bow out of the band for an unknown period of time. Stark was the writer of one of the bands more popular tracks Life Un.Sensored and was the vocalist on the recorded version as well. Matt had also been filling the lead vocal duties since late 2008 when George retired the microphone to peruse his automotive ventures.
Since about November of 2009 the band was taking time away from shows and writing and polishing new material for the upcoming LP. It was at this time that Michael Wells was approached to assume the duties of lead vocals. The change to the sound was very cool and dynamic, so ultimately Myke was brought on full time.
Matt's departure: was "Very, very sad" - said George, but it was in no way negative. Matt's exit was only out of need. Much of the band is very young and mostly un-attached, but life is life and as Vitreous is are not Hollywood Rockstars just yet, we gotta take care of business first sometimes. Vitreous is certain they haven't seen the last of Matt just yet.
Enter 2010: The lineup is Michael Wells, George Cole, Mike Beckert and Ian Murray with Matt Stark contributing some writing for the new LP.
January started off with a bang! Having put the first BMORE Rehearsal under their belts, Vitreous started gearing up for some live shows as well as tuning up once more for some studio work.
Another departure. well two actually:
On May 8th, Ian abruptly departed the band. This was followed about 2 months later by Mike Beckert announcing that he has made his decision on where to take his education - New York. Although Mike's departure was forecast a long time ago, it still leaves a void for a moment as well as the empty throne behind the drum kit.
Mike although already attending classes in New York was with George and Myke in the studio this past October and finished the bass lines for the tracks on the upcoming LP tentatively titled "Melange". Myke who in addition to his vocal talents carries a pair of drum sticks in his back pocket. And uses them well! He provided the remaining drum tracks in Ian's absence.
That brings us to November 2010.
The new album is now 98% complete. A final studio session is expected to take place mid-December which will finish the LP. Following it's release, Vitreous plan to tour the new album along the east coast this winter/spring.
