Viti di Titanio (Titanium Screws) were founded by brothers Maurizio and Marcello Vitale in the Italian city of Naples, 2005. A mixture of Italian lyrics and experimental music characterize the band and allow the whispering voices of Naples's narrow streets to be heard.
They combine sonorous Anglo-Saxon music with traditional Italian and Mediterranean folk songs. Using unusual music testing as well as instruments such as the organ, flutes, maracas and various percussions, they compose melodious songs. There is a classical undertone present and harmonious vocals. The poetics of the words add further melody to the sound of their songs.
V.d.T. released their first debut self-produced promo “Storie d’amanti e di demoni”(Stories of demons and lovers) recorded by Paolo Messere (former Ulan Bator). Acclaimed enthusiastically from the Italian press they enjoyed popularity performing in many gigs and festival .
In early September 2009 they confirmed their out-standing feedback publishing “Il giro di vite” (The turn of the screw) Ep , first 500 copies in vinyl cd. “Il giro di vite” brings the title from the short novel of Henry James with the same name. In track-list also appear the cover “Amara terra mia” of Domenico Modugno, the famous Italian singer.
In this release the legendary percussionist Giovanni Imparato (Ray Charles, Paco de Lucia and many others) has worked as pre-production assistant and Rodolfo Calandrelli (Markus Stockhausen), Paolo Messere and Luca Coppola as sound engineers .
In the first weeks they received immediate ratings from Italian indie magazine, making many appearances in independent radio and TV shows.
On 25th November 2009 Viti di Titanio performed for the first time in theatre at the historical avant-guard structure ‘Teatro Instabile’ in Naples with a special show including Giovanni Imparato on the percussion and the Italian actress Elena Cepollaro on readings extracted from ‘ The turn of the screw’ H. James . Their show was included in the Festival “SuonInstabili” which also has in line-up Ghost to Falco (U.S.A.) and Vessel(from Giardini di Mirò + Pitch, ITA).

Le Viti di Titanio nascono a Napoli nell’aprile del 2005 da un’idea dei fratelli Marcello e Maurizio Vitale con l’intento di unire alla melodia e alla poetica italiana forme sperimentali di matrice internazionale. Nel 2007 debuttano con il CD promo ‘Storie d’amanti e di demoni’, lavoro che si avvale dell’esperienza del produttore Paolo Messere (Blessed Child Opera, ex Ulan Bator) che ne cura la produzione delle voci ed i missaggi presso lo studio SEA HORSE.
La pubblicazione raccoglie consensi di critica e pubblico e consente alla band di intraprendere un’intensa attività live in giro per l’Italia che porta a condividere il palco tra gli altri con Offlaga disco Pax, Marco Notari and Madam, Casador e molti altri.
Nel settembre del 2009 esce il nuovo EP ‘Il Giro di Vite’, che si avvale di collaborazioni illusti quali il percussionista Giovanni Imparato (Lucio Dalla, Francesco De Gregori, etc.) come supervisore, Paolo Messere (Blessed Child Opera, ex Ulan Bator), dei fonici Rodolfo Calandrelli (a lavoro con Markus Stockhausen, Mark Nauseef e Tara Bouman) e Luca Coppola (gia’ in studio con Eugenio Bennato, Marco Zurzolo e Daniele Sepe e fonico live tra gli altri per 24Grana, Almamegretta e Luca Zulù - 99 Posse -). Il lavoro, che prende in prestito il titolo del romanzo di Henry James, da’ forma a suggestioni mutevoli ed ingannevoli come gli inquieti fantasmi dell’autore americano. Una continua ricerca di una verità che risulta essere sfuggente ed effimera.
Nel novembre 2009 l’EP viene presentato al pubblico in occasione della rassegna ‘SuonInstabili’ nel cui cartellone figurano gruppi come Ghost to Falco (Portland, USA) e Vessel ( progetto che unisce Giardini di Mirò e Pitch) in uno spettacolo che vede la partecipazione di Giovanni Imparato e dell’attrice Elena Cepollaro.
