The best rapper alive? Vigilante has been described as the first legitimate prospect for taking UK Hip-Hop to the international scene! His turbulent life experiences echoes throughout his music which gives him real credibility and makes him easy to relate to no matter what your age or creed. Storming into the UK hip-hop scene in 2006, Vigilante has released three music videos, which saw YouTube hits in the hundreds of thousands.
Vigilante has worked extremely hard to develop a unique sound. After experimenting he came across a 'flow' that felt natural, creating a unique sound he describes as the 'Nu Breed of Rap.'
Vigilante aims to take the UK hip hop market by storm with his revolutionary new style. With a rapidly growing fan base, and further collaborations in the pipeline, it seems there is no stopping him.
Vigilante is reaching new heights but this wasn't without his fair share of hurdles. In an almost fatal turn of events on Christmas Eve 2004 Vigilante became painfully aware of what lay ahead if he continued down the same path. After months of rehabilitation and physiotherapy he emerged with a desire to make his mark on the music scene.
In order to pursue his dream Vigilante detached himself from old "friends" and vowed to pursue a more positive route – as the world's first genuine Indian rap star. His second single '2 Young 2 Die' ,which samples and takes its title from Jamiroquai's 1993 track, the 24 year old portrayed a positive message delivering an anti-violence message calling on youths to put an end to their increasing spiral of violence.
Besides his lyrical ability, Vigilante's image speaks volumes. The rapper sports 11 tattoos, each with their own meaning and significance.
Vigilante has compiled two mix-tapes, one being the smash 22 track mix-tape 'They Call Me…VIG' which has seen in excess of 15 thousand downloads since February of this year. The responses from his mix tapes have been phenomenal and many are surprised to learn that such a talented artist is yet unsigned.
(Mix tape available free for download see Facebook Vigilante SL for details)
A talented individual, he writes all of his own material and often for the artists he collaborates with. He is currently working on his EP which embraces all genres and dissipates cultural boundaries.
Vigilante has worked with Jag Soulsinger who is now touring the UK and Europe on the Thriller Live tour (http://www.thrillerlive.com/about/) and Char who is an unsigned female vocalist and also performs on the track 'Get Away' which has been well received wherever it has been distributed.
Besides his solo projects, Vigilante's collaborations have included some of the biggest names in UK bhangra. In 2006, he featured on the track Sohneeya Aaja, produced by Ravi Bal, and featuring singer Alisha Chinai.
In 2008/9 he collaborated with Jaz Dhami on two smash singles Sona Munda and Roj Milie and performed alongside Raghav and Jay Sean at a number of events. The largest being the "Asiana Bachelors" at Studio Valbonne in London.
Vigilante is now in a potent position to break into the main stream with his unique style which mixes different genres. His diverse background has taught him many lessons which he wants to use to strive forward and, in doing so, deliver a positive message to his generation.
