Master of atmosphere Victor Janflone is changing the way people think about ambient and chillout. Moving far beyond the ideas conjured by the genre moniker “new age,” Janflone’s music produces tangible, almost three-dimensional universes with his music. Janflone’s compositions surround and envelope the listener in an aura of peace and euphoria and function as wormholes in the very fabric of time and space, carting the viewer off to realms of bliss.



Journey



Janflone believes that music should be a journey, especially music as metaphysical as ambient. It should make a direct connection to the mind and spirit and emotions and transport the listener elsewhere. ‘Music that moves me takes me on a journey, to a landscape of the unknown.” With his songwriting, Janflone serves as a guide to those soundscapes of beyond.



Soul Virtue



Music’s very purpose is communication with the soul. It’s why music’s effect is so profound and bigger and more sublime than just words alone. Music connects artist to listener and fan to fan in ways unique to any other form of communication. And it offers not just entertainment but also edification. “Music is the movement of sound to reach the soul for the education of its virtue.”



Hard Times Make for Joy



If you recognize that Janflone's mystical music is joy incarnate than you’d better give thanks for hard times. No, you’re not wishing bad on someone, but you are seeing a truth that Janflone understands and funnels into his music. Pain is often the greatest inspiration for art, which inspires joy. It’s the circle of life seen in a subtle way. “Hard times in life give the most expression … not that it is my wish to have hard times.” Janflone believes music helps us understand the negative by re-expressing it in positive. “I’m influenced by the idea of using music to transform an outlook.”
