Vertical Groove is a young musical projetc. Behind there is Piergiorgio Capozza, dj, producer, remixer, collector of rare vinyls, musician and art director organizing of clubnights. He’s been graphic designer of cooly FEZ CLUB musical productions (from 1990 in Bari - Italy), as member, promoter and musician playing his Tenor Sax in a groovy band named Sestetto Nuovo. Piergiorgio has been exporting all over the world the Sound and the innovative ideas to do “clubbing” in Italy. During his dj-sets, Piergiorgio diving they strongly into funk, jazz, latin and brasilian, original or plus electronics and afro-percussives.
Today he lives and works in Milan, where he created Move & Groove Production, since September 2002, together with Nicolò Pozzoli: a lab’ for the discovery of rare grooves in the ancient area of jazz, funk, soul ,brasil, afro, boogaloo. M&G use to compare steadly these stylish sounds with the new modern sound. In 2 years, M&G organized around 100 “different Club Nights” inspired to those sounds, caring even about communcation PR, artistic selection and premises (Rob Louis, Michael Ruetten, Frank Popp, Paul Murphy, Minus 8, Buscemi, Spiritual South, the Dublex Inc… and still Gaetano Partipilo Quartet, Soulstance, ModX, Link Quartet, Gerardo Frisina, Sam Paglia). M&G realized a succesfull compilation titled “Boogaloo”, distribuited all over Europe and Japan, produced by Nick Recordicks with is label named Recordkicks; this CD is inspired to the succesful milanese saturday night clubbing. Those Saturdays, when Piergiorgio is Art Director and Dj Resident, are behind a brand new collection, which is going to be presented, “Vertical Groove” : an evolution path from afroamerican jazz from the 60’s and 70’s up today’s electronics.
It’s now longer then two years that Piergiorgio produces music. The first 12” was out with Italian Label Scenario Records in February 2006. The new 12" is published by Italian Recordkicks Label. The name of the track is "Mystere Profond (batufunk version)". Piergiorgio and his musicians are workin' on the first album.
