Scottish band Vantage Point released the album, Daredevil On The Shore, in 2008. It featured 13 songs of pure unadulterated Heavy Metal, including Gripped By The Throat, Pleasure Slave, Motor Man, & Gemma Gemini. Songs which have featured heavily in their live sets during the previous few years.
Since then the live set has been peppered with new songs, including, Obedience School, a track inspired by the Aberdeen night club of the same name, Stunned a straight ahead hard rock classic, the groove heavy, Forgotten Face. Plus there has been the ode to working life with Stressed Out, and the tale of a wayward dentist from the frozen North's of Scotland, in Shetlamb, Driller Killer. This has led to work on the follow-up album, but as a taster for that the band are releasing the Driller Killer EP.
Available now from both this myspace page and also the official website, it is a five track CD featuring three of the new songs which have been previewed at recent live gigs. Stunned heads up the disc with its heads down no nonsense rock approach, a hands in the air, fist-pumping anthem which was made for the live stage. It is followed by Stressed Out which is ushered in with the five part harmony intro, before crashing into a titan of a metal song where headbanging is compulsory, and very stress relieving. The final new song on the EP emerges from Shetland, featuring a serial killing dentist, not someone you want looking down your throat.
The EP is rounded off by two songs from the Daredevil album, a single version of the live staple, 24 Hour Breakdown, the only song to have been played at every Vantage Point gig, and a highlight of the set to this day. Plus, Motor Man, a remixed version of the album track, this version hammers along setting pulses racing even quicker than the original did.
