Blutengel was formed in 1998 after Chris Pohl had decided to give up the preceding project, Seelenkrank Just as it's predecessor, Blutengel uses melodious electronic tunes in combination with both male and female voices. However, the topics of the songs have now been expanded, and cover all
sides of love and romance.
The first album "Child of Glass", released in early 1999, soon conquered the clubs and the hearts of the already existing fan community but also attracted a huge number of new fans with songs like "Weg zu mir" and "Beauty of Suffering". Kati Roloff and Nina Bendigkeit were responsible for the female vocals at the time. However, although the album "Child of Glass" was still present in the minds of the people, things became quiet for the project itself for quite a long time.
Finally, in 2001, the second anxiously anticipated album "Seelenschmerz" was released and initiated a new era in Blutengel's short band history. The band formation changed as Nina had managed to cut her own successful path in the last two years, and Gini Martin joined the band as the second female
voice alongside Kati. Catchy songs such as "Seelenschmerz" , "Soul of Ice", " Children of the Night", and "Der Spiegel" turned "Seelenscherz" into a blockbuster, just missing the German Top 100 Album
Charts, but forced Blutengel to appear live in front of fans. However, after
only two more concerts, and with the release of the single "Black Roses" the band hit rock bottom at the end of 2002, and The Dark Storm Festival on December 26th, 2001 marked the third and last performance of the formation as it had hitherto been. Constance Rudert who had only been recruited to add some spirit to the single "Black Roses" had her first guest appearance on stage together with Nina and Gini in a sold out performance at the Casino in Berlin , and soon became an inherent part of
Blutengel, after Kati and Gini had left the band together. While Kati and Gini both worked on a new career with their project Tristesse De La Lune, Chris Pohl managed to find a second equal female voice
in Eva Poelzig. Due to the vocal scope they now had , and the removal to a studio with new technical opportunities, the band managed to produce a high-quality album with "Angel Dust" (released in late 2002) that would indeed pay off.
In addition, the tour, with concerts in Switzerland, The Netherlands, and of course, Germany had successfully started before the album hit the Top 100. Clear proof that the popularity of Blutengel had been steadily increasing since 1999.
In over-crowded venues Blutengell presented an unprecedented show mixing dance, pyrotechnics, "carnage" and theatre which was specially created for songs like "Black Wedding", "Angel of the Night", "The End of Love", and many other new album tracks. Surprisingly, these brand new songs
were already been celebrated like the beloved club hit classics of the band's early stage.
After the end of this successful tour the band managed to carry forward their triumphant procession in 2003 with gigs at Wave-Gotik-Treffen, Woodstage Festival, Mera Luna festival, The Electric Gathering Festival in Sweden, and at the Dark Storm Festival in Berlin and Oberhausen alongside the band
"Within Temptation". And In December 2003, the new single "Forever" was finally released.
In March of the 2004, the album "Demon Kiss" followed, entering the German Top 100 at 53. Appearances followed at the Woodstage Festival, Zillo Festival, Mera Luna ( as a headliner) as well as foreign appearances in Greece and Sweden. Before the "Demon Kiss" tour the single "No Eternity", a
track not contained on the "Demon Kiss" album entered the Top 100 at number 77, and spent two weeks on the charts. Now for 2005 concerts abroad have finally been planned including the US, Mexico, England. Only two concerts will take place in Germany. In April 2005, the DVD of the Demon Kiss Tour 2004 was released.
