We say: Rock ‘n Roll is alive and well.

You say: Damn Right!

Whilst the media and other bands weren’t looking, Damn Right steamrolled into the South African music scene at the start of 2007.

The band’s first Single – ‘Heartbreakers’ grabbed the nation’s attention with its unapologetic, chrome-studded rock ‘n roll swagger whilst brazenly climbing campus radio charts, trampling many long established bands to claim top spot on both the TUKS FM SA TOP 10 and the SAMP3.com charts as well as camping on the loadtheshow.com daily charts number 1 spot for a total of 6 weeks.

In August 2007 Damn Right were voted in to the Top 5 of bands whom audiences would most like to see perform at South Africa’s biggest annual rock music festival – Oppikoppi. Due to a tight gigging schedule, the band could not make it up to Gauteng for the festival but opted instead to open the Cape Town leg of the AMPLI5 concert (alongside the cream of SA rock talent and big-name International acts the Violent Femmes, Jimmy Eat World and Groove Armada.)

In September 2007 Damn Right released their much anticipated first music video to match the Heartbreakers single. The video has found top rotation on MK89, and has been included in the official Namibian Film Festival selection, as well as being screened on national TV stations SABC 1 and 2. The Heartbreakers music video has also remained in the Top 3 Selection of pay channel M.Net’s prestigious eDIT Awards.

In September and October 2007 The band also entered the studio to officially begin production on their inaugural five-track EP ‘Son of A Gun’ (released in February 2008), available nationally through independent outlets. The band capped off the year with a dynamite live performance at the Summer X-Games in Camps Bay.

Kicking off the new year, Damn Right performed to a capacity crowd at Cape Town’s The Assembly venue in early January 2008, after which the band took a four month hiatus to write new material - the results of which are a new single called ‘Ride’ (to be released in June 2008) with pre-production already well underway towards a full-length album (set for release in November 2008).

In April 2008 Damn Right rocked a request performance at the Hells Angel’s World Rally.

Damn Right has been featured ,in one form or another, across major South African press outlets like Blunt mag, GQ, The Mail & Guardian, The Cape Argus newspaper, The Star newspaper, Kulula.Com in-flight magazine and BPM MUSIC MAG. The band has played alongside South Africa’s top rock bands Fokofpolisiekar, The Dirty Skirts, Van Coke Kartel, L.A. Cobra, 16 Stitch, Foto Na Dans and others.
