We live in a worldwide ghetto where the most of the people are wittingly oppressed and can't feel free. Look around: this current state of affairs is disappointing because even those who understand its essence do not try to challenge it. Urban Funk Army is an independent formation, the ultimate aim of which is liberation from mental slavery, emphasis on material possessions and all the artificially imposed axes dividing us along the conventional nation /race/class criteria. The only weapon that we possess is MUSIC, and the intent of creation, not destruction. But who knows: perhaps only MUSIC can help us to overcome everything that prevents us from breathing free. Music is the natural power source, which is spread all over the Universe and fills every part of it with its magic. Music is not a material thing, it's a spontaneous energy. Energy that appeared at the beginning of the World, energy that makes everything move, which brings sense to the existence. That's the philosophy of FUNK.

Urban Funk Army is a mobile unit, the single components of which can change but its foundation remains immutable. Not only musicians can join us but all the independent free-thinking individuals, that feel the same way we do. The band participated in all major Russian funk-festivals. In spring 2006 Urban Funk Army became one of the initiators of the Funk Family, the first music label in Russia which consolidated the independent funk-musicians. Urban Funk Army was released on "From underground to dance floors 2" cd (LevPravZvuk, 2005) and on first and second CD-compilations of russian funk “Funk Family-1” (2006) and “Funk Family-2” (2008).

The band also collaborates with Danny Bedrosian – an outstanding keyboard player of legendary Parliament-Funkadelic. In summer 2007 Danny recorded an enchanting keyboard solo for the U.F.A.’s song “Vstavay!” (“Get Up!”). On March 6 2008 Urban Funk Army opened for PARLIAMENT-FUNKADELIC show in Moscow at the club “B1 Maximum”.
