“Uneq’ka” was giving the name Uneq, based on her ability to deliver unique songs.

The ’Ka was added in 2000, ’Ka is the Egyptian meaning for individual spirit of God, which is actually her true identity.  From the heart of Chicago, Illinois, Uneq’ka (pronounced as “Unique” sounds), developed her musical genius in the church choir. At the age of three, she joined the choir in which her mother played the piano and her father sung. The twenty-five year old songstress’ goal is to redefine the image of music through her lyrical diversity while transmitting her life experiences, pains and triumphs through her voice. This has proven to be the corner-stone of her inner strength that had fused with her voice to heighten her talent.

Coming from a well-rounded upbringing, she exhibits her talents by streaming through very eclectic genres of music.  She is professionally trained in classical, jazz, opera, gospel, and has vast experience in hip-hop and R&B.

Uneq’ka isn’t just a pretty girl with an angelical voice. She also writes, engineers and produces her own music. Her artistic talent does not stop when the song is complete, as she continually perfects her talent through abstract paintings, video editing, producing as well as serving as an excellent teacher of all these things.

Uneq’ka’s musical inspirations are Stevie Wonder, who has taught her how to be a well-rounded artist. “He is the Father of Modern music to me,” she stated.  Uneq’ka studied Kim Burrell for her jazz and gospel techniques. In her eyes, Kim Burrell could possibly be the greatest female vocalist of all time.  Sara Vaughn’s classic style with the way she controls her voice and tone stabilized Uneq’ka’s talents. Brain McKnight’s technical musical skills. Maria Carey’s range and how to write from Maria’s earlier music. The hip-hop legend and lyricist Lauren Hill served as a distant mentor through her music on how to be true to yourself as an artist.  Her personal inspiration comes from her family, her two sisters, mother, father and son.

The mission of her sophisticated, classy musical genius is to impact the listener through her words, voice and performance.  Uneq’ka has collaborated with and/or opened up for RKelly, Usher, T.I, Nas, Common, Talib Kweli, Drew Hill, Rick Ross, Kelly Price, Twista, Life Jennings, Kindred The Family Soul, Dead Pres, Do or Die, Mob Deep and many others.

She is excellent at collaborating with other artists to mold into their sound.  She has found her sound with her team JUST FM Entertainment.
