UNEARTHLY
Hailing from Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, Unearthly was founded in 1998, by M. Mictian (bass) and Lord Thoth (guitars/vocals). After releasing two demo CDs - "Blessed are the Destroyers of False Hope" (2000) and "Living Under the Sign of Blasphemy" (2001) -, the band finally debuted with the full-lenght album "Infernum - Prelude to a New Reign" in 2002, put out by Encore Records in Brazil and by Crash Music in the US and Canada.
It didn't take long until the group released their second album.
"Black Metal Commando" was released in 2003, once again by Encore Records in their native country. The CD, produced by Fabiano Penna (ex-Rebaellium, now in The Ordher), steered towards a more death metal influenced sound, however still maintaining the group's characteristic black metal identity.
From 2004 to 2006, Unearthly toured throughout Brazil's northeast and played many important shows and festivals. In 2004, Lord Thoth, co-founder, left the band and was replaced by Eregion, who remains in the frontman role until now.
In 2007, they did their first international tour in Latin America, which
lasted for 1 month and a half and hit 5 countries. In that same year the group released a compilation, "Unmerciful Personalized Bestiality", aiming at their die-hard fans, for its track list was composed mainly by rarities.
One of the consequences of this tour was a live album, "Revelations of Holy Lies.Live!", released by their current label, Free Mind Records, in 2008. Also, 10 years of career were completed in that year, and, in commemoration for that, their label re-released their back catalog, in special slipcase edition, remastered and with new art.
In autumn 2008 the band recorded their newest album, "Age of Chaos", which was released in 2009. The album was very well received by the specialized
media, and was considered one of the best albums of the style ever released in Brazil. Roadie Crew, the most important heavy metal magazine in the country, awarded the record with a 10/10.
Now, the band is ready to schedule an extended European tour and write a new chapter in their black biography.
