U60311

The U 60311opened in October 1998 its doors in an abandoned metro subway in the centre of Frankfurt’s bank and shopping district. The place has been transformed to a night club venue with great artistic and architectural effort and construction skills which had been awarded numerous times and praised as a piece of trendsetting architecture.



Right from the beginning the motto and intention of the U 60311 - (U stands for Underground plus the postcode) - was to focus on “fine electronic music” and soon a national and international elite of DJs appeared in the venue. Carl Cox, Jeff Mills, Paul van Dyk, Sven Väth, Fatboy Slim, Deep Dish, Marco Carola, Mousse T., and new aspiring talents like Felix Kröcher, Sven Wittekind or Frank Kvitta, to name just a few.



The club has a capacity of 1.000 guests. They can enjoy the music on two floors which are separated by a sound absorbing glass wall. The smaller second floor features an own entrance and can thus be run as a club on its own if required (U Bar).



The renowned series of mix-compilations “U 60311 compilation techno division” and “U 60311 compilation house division” - by resident artists like Chris Liebing, Kid Alex, Karotte, Carl Cox, Gayle San, DJ Rush etc. - are highly acclaimed for both, critics and music lovers and are demonstrations of state-of-the-art club vibes.



Reader polls from national music magazines like “Rave Line” or “Groove” voted the U 60311 during the years of its existence as No. 1 or alternately No. 2 of Germany’s most favoured night spots. Currently it was voted again as the second best club nationwide in 2006. In the same year a refurbishment took place and changed partially the general impression of the premises by adding colour and seats for chilling and chatting.



Apart from being a platform for electronic music and party culture in downtown Frankfurt, the U 60311 offers a variety of possibilities to use the venue, either for art exhibitions, literary readings, theatrical performances or concerts in either of the rooms, according to the size of the event.
