They are a genre splitting band who defy classification, with influences ranging from Tool to Paco de Lucia to Frank Zappa and even Kíla. They are one of the most exciting Irish bands on the live scene in Ireland with an explosive show that spell-binds audiences leaving them gasping for breath. They have toured Ireland extensively as well as completing tours of England, Denmark and mainland Europe, earning a reputation as a seriously talented ensemble of musicians.Túcan's musical existence began as the guitar duo of Donal Gunne and Pearse Feeney, but the line up has recently expanded to include the prodigious talents of drummer and percussionist Paul Wehrly, and bass player Keith Kelly. The new line up has dramatically spiced things up, adding serious groove and power to the overall sound, not to mention causing some to call for a renaming to Fórcan (4can)In the summer of 2009 they released their debut album “Aliquot Strings” on their own label, Túcan Music. It managed to crack the Irish top 30 Album Charts, no mean feat for an instrumental debut, and was well received critically. The album was produced by Kíla Producer/Drummer/Guitarist Lance Hogan, and includes the considerable abilities of Brian Hogan of Kíla and Preachers Son on bass and Cuban native Tony Oscar on percussion. The Album is a firecracker of driving rhythms and virtuoso guitar craft which brings the listener on a considerable adventure in a concise thirty six minutes.They have attracted serious attention throughout their rise in the music scene, performing with such international acts as Jose Feliciano, Regina Spektor (who invited them to open for her in Dublin's Tripod after spotting them busking in Templebar), contemporaries Rodrigo y Gabriela as well as touring with Alabama 3 of The Soprano's fame. They have been banned from busking on Grafton Street in Dublin, lived as street performers in Prague and Barcelona, and have closed out the The Electric Picnic Festival in 2007.
