Troy on NBC'S THE TODAY SHOW (Feb. 28, 2007)
Troy Sawyer, 22 years old, has been trying to sing since the doctor slapped his rear after he came out of the womb. Although he's always had a passion for being in the spotlight, as a child he never pictured himself as a celebrity. Through elementary school and middle school, singing was just a fun after school activity. It wasn't until highschool that he realized that this is really what he wanted to do for the rest of his life. Musical after musical, choir concert after choir concert, Troy's voice matured from a nasally puny sound, to the rich, crisp sound you hear today.
Troy has always had a passion for Country Music. Anywhere from dancing in his Smurf underwear to "Achy Breaky Heart" to stripping down to his boxers and t-shirt on his high school stage to "Should've Been A Cowboy", the power that Country music provides has always been an uplift to Troy's life.
After high school, Troy decided to take the step from becoming a karaoke singer to actually becoming the next big thing. Troy has auditioned for shows such as American Idol, Nashville Star, Star Search, and The One. He's also been in and out of the recording studio recording cover songs, and recently wrote his first song, "The Eagle".
Although Troy has a passion on singing, he also has another passion that he's about to fulfill, teaching! Troy will be graduating from Missouri Western State University in May 2007 with a Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education, where he will be teaching anywhere from 1st to 6th grade
Making leap after leap, everything from making c.d.'s to graduating college, Troy still felt like there was something missing. Like there's still further that he can push. So in August 2006, he decided that he was going to make the ultimate leap and move to Nashville, TN where he will finish his Student Teaching and be right there where the music scene is.
The one thing Troy says he never expected was the amount of support and love that he has received from not only family, but friends as well. When sending a bulletin out on Myspace to all 2300 of his friends, his reply was outrageous! Here were some of the responses that touched his heart:

If I had to choose just one, I would have to say it is the passion he brings to his music. This phenomenal singer does not just have a voice that puts half the singers today to shame, but he takes traditional country songs and pours soooo much emotion into them that they far surpass there notes, lyrics, and feelings to become real and alive to the point that you can't help but be moved. I have many if his recordings, and keep them always on my person. I also have gone to see him perform many times, and he is just as animated and energetic in person as he is on MP3. When, someday, this guy makes it to the top, I will have every record!"

Troy wants to send a special thanks to all the people who support his choice to pursue the music career. Although it's a hard business, it's friends like y'all who help make a person successful!
