The group was started in Queens, New York by Isaiah, Justin, and Wensdell in August Martin High School. The three began singing in the staircase in the basement of the high school and that’s how they gained recognition for their talents. Later on, Tony who was the fourth member to join the group, wasn't too interested at first, but with the music and the quality of their voices together as one, he was conviced that it would be unwise not to participate. True's singing style changed over the years due to the change in group members. Each present and departed member brought his own style of music and writing abilitis and contributed greatly to the evolution of the group's music. Of all the changes, there was one that stuck and most suited the group's visions and it was the addition of group member Sincere.



The group name True came about by a long time friend. True originated because of the power behind the name. The Positive Message and singing of True love and their desire to spread true love and inspiration through their music has lead them to the point they are at now. For some years, the group did go through a break up, but the respect they had for each other and for the music was still there, and through this journey of life’s lessons, these boys -now men- have learned a lot and they plan on expressing themselves the way its intended to be: through their passion of music.
