TROY DUNNIT

This is the story of a man who's afraid of love, commitment, responsibility and adulthood. The man who looks up to Lord Clooney:'' I’m gonna be single for the rest of my life!''. Master lyricist, wordsmith, Redman meets Ludacris meets Lupe Fiasco … meet Troy Dunnit.



He used to rap alongside DJ Atrak (Kanye West, Kid Sister) and big bro Dave 1 (Chromeo) in Montreal based rap outfit Obscure Disorder. After achieving relative international recognition and critical acceptance, The members of OD pursued other ventures. While on a 5 year hiatus in New York, Dunnit continued expanding his range with solo joints “Mindblowin’” & “Not Gangsta” and collaborating with such names as ILL Bill and Large Professor.



Back in his native stomping ground, he’s collaborated with Real City beatsmith C4 (imyourproducer.com) and Juno-nominated producer Simahlak with whom he’s still got some unreleased goods…Right now, he is currently finishing up an EP titled '‘Troy Dunnit as the Anti Cupid'' with genre breaking MC/producer Lotus. On this record, Lotus plays the role of both producer and vocalist providing a dark spaced-out musical backdrop full of distorted synths, off kilter drums and vocal pitching. This new sound, combined with Troy's slick-star attitude and animated wordplay, definitely makes for a taste of the Next ish!



The anti-cupid is nothing if not complex. It is more than a persona, more than a mere alter-ego. It’s the acceptance of his true self; it’s the desire to follow the path of music and heartbreak while living out the back of a tour bus. It is, ironically, the growth and maturity he ultimately found in an otherwise immature and adventurous lifestyle. Anti-thesis, Anti-Hero…Anti –Cupid.
