Ruud Cornelissen started playing bassguitar in a popgroup when he was 13 years old; after doing this for about 10 years, he started to play and study the doublebass. He got his master degree at the Royal Conservatory of the Hague; after this period he began his career as a professional classical doublebass-player in the several Dutch Symphony Orchestras and then played for 20 years in the Radio Symphony Orchestra in Hilversum, Holland(The Netherlands).

He is also busy as teacher for doublebass and bassguitar. For both instruments he wrote a method; "Musical Instruction for Bassguitar" is published by the GuitarMusicPublisher 'Van Teeseling '. He also composed a couple of pieces for doublebass, published by 'Donemus Amsterdam'. He has recorded a just released solo-album, titled "Short Tracking", with the cooperation of a number of well-known Jazz musicians, mentioned on this page.
