Treacherous Records -

Tico Khrimian had a fateful meeting nearly a decade ago in his family's Glendale, California restaurant. A family friend brought his son to dinner and invited Khrimian to the recording studio that night.
"That was it," Khrimian recalls. "That day, I left the recording studio and I said, 'This is the business I want to be in.' From then on, I just started getting involved, dealing with artists, getting producers together, getting them in the recording studio, recording, developing artists and unknown acts. It just grew from there."
Now President and CEO of Treacherous Records, Khrimian sits at the helm of one of the music industry's most promising companies. Its roster includes future R&B star K Young and up-and-coming rapper One-2, as well as acclaimed hip-hop veterans Jayo Felony, Knoc-turn'al and Big Syke.
Khrimian's revolutionary business sense led to his impressive roster. "A lot of artists are concerned with creative control," he says. "We don't have a problem with that. The other thing is that they want to blow themselves up, too. They
don't want to just be artists. We give them the opportunity to do a deal as an exclusive artist and at the same time, we'll do imprint deals with our artists. So if they've got something that they want to put out, we're more than willing to put it out. At Treacherous Records, our artists have the opportunity to grow."
Treacherous Records' first signing was One-2, he was a 16-year-old Armenian rapper who grew up in Sweden and who relocated to the United States now his 19 and still with treacherous. His transnational experiences make for mind-blowing music.
The company's first release will be the debut album from K Young, an R and B artist television and film star Raven-Symone brought to the company. "I listened to it and after the first two songs I heard, I said I want to do the deal," Khrimian says. "He's a great artist as far as his writing skills and his singing skills. He blew me away."
As for its veteran acts, Treacherous cannot be rivaled. "You want to go to the street, the gangster, you've got Jayo Felony," Khrimian says. "Lyrically and street credibility, that's him. I?ve always liked him and thought that he's one of the greatest. Big Syke comes from the 2Pac family tree. Syke's production and style of music just takes you to a different level. It talks so much about life and things that people aren't even touching musically. Then there's Crooked I and he's one of the best lyricists in the game."
Jayo Felony, Big Syke and Crooked I give Treacherous Records instant credibly. Each artist also hopes to reestablish the West Coast as hip-hop's creative center.
"We're bringing a whole different sound to the industry and to the West Coast," Khrimian says.
Khrimian started Treacherous Records in 1997 but got busy working with other projects. He relaunched the imprint in 2002, started his own Infamous Productions a production company and will be launching Khrimian and Co., a luxury line of watches and fine jewelry. He also is build his own recording studio, The Mint Room.
Now, with distribution through worldwide entertainment powerhouse Universal Records, Khrimian is preparing to take over the music industry.
"You're not going to see just a record company where we're just doing music and the artists are just doing music," he says. "They're going to be involved in a lot of other stuff beyond the music. We're going to change the business around. I think it is due. We're a West Coast label with West Coast artists. We?re the new West Coast. The artists that we have signed, they speak for themselves."
They are Treacherous, indeed.
